It was late in the morning when one sleepy Eyrie Watch Lieutenant blinked awake. She was rather cozy in her bed, the furs nice and warm, the sun shining on a new day; she was ready to take on anything! … Well, that would have been the case if she was bi, or lesbian. But she wasn’t. She was straight. And in a few moments, one will see why they should NEVER let Wegmeph try to catch Altaph again.
Sa’nia was going through the list of things that needed to be done when she finally noticed why it seemed that her clothes were so soft; turns out that the only thing covering her body was the blanket that was draped over two bodies. Two? That’s not right… Slightly beginning to panic, she reached out to her trusty Simourv…
Only to get a mental slap in the face. Altaph was rather peeved off, because SOME certain Blue didn’t let her complete her Flight on her terms. After much more rather irritating prodding from Hers, the Tawny gave a great sigh and lightly nipped Wegmeph’s ear.
Wait… Wegmeph? What was he-
Oh God.
Memories from the Flight washed over her, pounding her with vivid images of what had happened the previous night. ”no…” was the only word out of her mouth before she slowly turned her head to see if her suspicions were correct. What she saw shook her to the core: There was Ros’n, cuddled up nice and close to Sa’nia, and she was also in the nude. So, the poor girl did the only logical thing at the time. Of course, looking back, it was the most irrational thing to do, but hey; she didn’t sleep round with women. And what was that thing that she did? Oh, right.
She screamed her head off. Probably into Ros’n’s ear. She didn’t care though. Leaping about five feet in the air and off the bed (with the blanket wrapped firmly about her), she scurried over to the farthest corner of the room and snatched up her glaive. Shivering from head to toe, the only words that ran through her mind blurred together into a one-worded sentence: How-could-this-happen-to-me-oh-my-god-I-don’t-sleep-with-girls-WHY-DID-THIS-HAPPEN-TO-ME?!

The Chydyn Watch Lieutenant lay in bed, fully awake, long before her bedmate woke. Ros’n did not want to disturb Sa’nia, especially since the blue rider could imagine that the tawny rider would not be pleased at the identity of her current partner. Ros’n was somewhat pleased. She enjoyed the fact that she was attracted to the person she spent the night with, and yet, the fact that the attraction was not mutual was a bit disappointing. Ros’n was good enough in bed, and attractive enough, that she wished other people comprehended how lucky he or she was when they slept with her. Even though a lot of the night was masked by the intensity of her flight-lust, Ros’n imagined that last night had gone pretty well for both her and Sa’nia, even if the tawny rider would never admit it. Ros’n certainly felt good about herself, or maybe she felt Wegmeph’s large ego, which radiated off of him like an unpleasant smell. Ros’n was going to have to deal with that ego for days. Wegemph was a blue and he had beaten reds to win the first tawny flight at the Eyrie. And he had not been picked, he had taken Altaph, which made him, in his mind, even more impressively powerful. He had proven himself a great fighter—a great competitor. Ros’n was trying not to pay attention, but his attitude was rubbing off on her. When Altaph nipped Wegmeph’s ear, he sighed, but then he nuzzled Altaph’s body, her face, gently with his own cheek. The fact that she did not want him to win meant nothing to him; he would act affectionately anyway, because together, they were going to be partners, parents, and they had a good night last night, regardless of her original intentions.
Ros’n noted her simourv partner’s convictions, and she determined that she would treat Sa’nia the same way. So what, if the girl had not wanted Ros’n in the first place? Ros’n would make the best of this situation no matter how much the other woman fought. That was the best she could do, really, make the best of the situation. Ros’n snuggled closer to Sa’nia, weaving her body between the other woman and the blanket. Ros’n’s naked body was almost entirely bare. San’ia was a total blanket hog. Ros’n knew that Sa’nia woke when she heard the other woman’s exclamation of grief, and as soon as Sa’nia began to proclaim, even that small syllable at first, Ros’n sighed. It turned out that Ros’n’s sigh came a bit early, because Sa’nia’s next actions were much more irritating. At the sound of Sa’nia’s scream, Ros’n only turned over, so that her ears were not pointed towards Sa’nia’s mouth. Otherwise, Ros’n did not move, but she did peel the covers off of Sa’nia before the blue rider wrapped them around herself in a tight cocoon. The sheets did no good, because it was not thick enough to create a true barrier which damped any sound. Ros’n also did not move when Sa’nia got up. Instead, the blue rider moaned a bit, as if she had been asleep, and closed her eyes. This morning was going to be tedious, with Sa’nia’s emotional arousal and Wegmeph’s gloating. Ros’n should have slept longer. Maybe she would have slept through it.
When Sa’nia started asking her frantic, screamed question, Ros’n moaned again, and then she slowly pulled her body into an upright position, so that she was sitting. Oh, God, Sa’nia armed herself. Did she think Ros’n was going to rape her? The action was over and done with now. This was why Ros’n kept her homosexuality to herself, or at least one of them, because some people just did not understand. ”Oh, but we had such a good night. You’re really lucky. I’m a good fuck.” Ros’n explained with a sly smile crossing over her lips. She spoke in a complete deadpan, a voice incredibly neutral for a woman who usually spoke with a lot of animation. She was calm, collected, and not amused. This might end up being a long morning.

Maybe Ros’n knew this, maybe not; Sa’nia was not reacting this way because she resented female intimation (she didn’t care really, until said imitation was aimed at her; then she would just firmly say no and walk off), but instead it was a mixture of shock and Altaph’s irritation, which was rolling off of her much like Wegmeph’s arrogance was rolling off of him. If Altaph wasn’t so intensely infuriated, the girl wouldn’t be in such a frenzy. But of course, one cannot change the past, so here they were.
Sa’nia spluttered for words as her one-night-stand partner smooth-talked her with no expression whatsoever. She learned to hate deadpan voices after dealing with Shadoph for a week because His went on an artistic rampage and – the sweetheart that she is – let him sketch/paint/sculpt her and Taffy. Her voice was strained, as if she was just waiting for an opportunity to wrap her fingers about the other’s throat. “I- don’t- CARE- if you were- a good-” She tried to think of a different word, but failed (and probably cursed for the first time in her life congrats, Ros’n! You’re the first to hear her swear! Lol), “Fuck, Ros'n. I don’t like you that way!” She was slowly gaining her composure, since Taffy was begrudgingly letting the winner butt his head against hers affectionately, but it still sounded as if each word could have sent a dagger through Ros’n’s body. No matter how much the Blue Rider tried, she would not be able to convert her. She put the weapon back down in its corner and slowly made her way back to the bed, sitting on its edge. A quiet sigh escaped simourv and rider. Hopefully the other woman wouldn’t strangle her.

Ros’n did not understand Sa’nia’s perspective, because for the blue rider, attraction had very little to do with sex. In fact, Ros’n engaged in sexual activities completely detached from sex more often than she slept with people that she, as Sa’nia put it, “liked that way.” Sex was a tool, a means of paying the necessary tithes of life—a means of pushing herself forward in the social hierarchy of the world, a means of giving herself a value where value did not inherently exist. Ros’n’s mother taught Ros’n to use intimacy in this way, to commoditize herself until she moved up enough in the world to make something of herself, and this mindset permeated Ros’n’s thoughts towards sex, and for that matter, her body, even now that she had a purpose, a value, through her connection to Wegmeph. And so Sa’nia’s protests were lost on Ros’n, who saw no value in Sa’nia’s mindset. In fact, Ros’n, in a second, realized that Sa’nia was terribly naive if she thought that an attraction to Ros’n mattered in this instance. While at any other time, Ros’n might have just rolled her eyes and allowed Sa’nia to believe her innocent, naïve thoughts about sex, Wegmeph’s confidence provided Ros’n with a certain feeling of superiority which fueled a small moment of protest. “Sa’nia, do you really think that attraction has anything to do with it?” Ros’n questioned, her tone suddenly gaining some emotion, becoming warm, and almost motherly in tone. “It’s just sex. It has nothing to do with whether or not you are attracted to me. Sex doesn’t have to involve that at all. It’s just something we did, for one night. It’s not like you’re married to me.” Ros’n began, her voice suddenly tired, as she pulled herself from the bed. She was completely naked, but Ros’n did not seem to care at all that she was unclothed. Ros’n was hardly a modest person, and Sa’nia had already experienced Ros’n in her entirety, so there was not anything to hide.
Ros’n, still naked, turned to Sa’nia for a second, the blue rider’s green eyes studying the other woman slowly and carefully. Ros’n was not even entirely sure how to impart to the tawnyrider how little the tryst between them mattered, how small the event was. ”I mean, by the simourvs, I’ve slept hundreds with people I wasn’t attracted to, and besides, flight lust creates feelings where there aren’t any originally.” Ros’n reminded Sa’nia. And the first part of Ros’n’s comment conveyed, at least through interpretation, her closested homosexuality, the fact that she disliked almost all of her sexual partners, especially the men, who were her chosen liaisons most of the time. Whether or not the tawnyrider put those pieces together depended upon how much she knew about Ros’n’s sexual history, which was not exactly a topic of gossip, as it was well know Ros’n slept around, and therefore the fact was hardly worth discussing behind the woman’s back, but also certainly not hidden from the realm of public domain. Whether or not the sum the woman used overdramatized her promiscuity was also open for interpretation.
Even though Altaph allowed Wegmeph to nuzzle her, the blue simourv did not push the limits any further. He kept his face tucked against Altaph’s feathers, but his display of affection ended there. He knew that she disliked him, and that he had won, and he did want to press the issue. At this moment in time, Wegmeph was extremely fond of Altaph, and he wanted to make her happy, at least to the best extent he could manage after already having enraged her so. Wegmeph hardly moved at all, as he did not want to disturb his partner, and he breathed lightly. He was smug, yes, but Wegmeph was not stupid, and he understood the gravity of the honor he received from winning Altaph. As a blue, he was quite aware of his place.

Sa’nia was in a total state of shock. Not because of the fact that she had lost her virginity to a woman (she had gotten over that after the first minute or so of hysteria), but the fact that she really thought that what had happened mattered. Ros’n brought light to her naivety, and helped her to understand that none of it mattered. If she was so naïve to believe that one little Flight meant that she was stuck with that person, then she needed help, and fast.
But not right then. It was still surprising her that she had been so oblivious. The Tawnyrider brought her hands to her face and rubbed it thoroughly, as if to remove any of the shame she had for her actions. Ros’n proved many good points about Flights that she had just discarded without any second thought. Flightlust stirred up emotions that would normally be nonexistent, and there was no way to control it. Her stomach did a small somersault at the idea, despite the fact that she had experienced it firsthand. Sa’nia leaned against the wall she had cowered in, and slid down until her rump came in contact with the stone floor.
”I’m sorry for freaking out earlier,” she apologized. IT was rude of her to scream in Ros’n’s ear and threaten her with a glaive for something she couldn’t control. ”But I really need to think about things on my own right now. I hope you don’t mind me asking you to leave?” Her voice sounded feeble, unsure; almost like a young child confused about why what they did was wrong. They understood it was bad, but it was still a shock that it was told to them in a way that it made more sense. Though, this shock was very different from the childhood shock. This one changed Sa’nia’s life. However, right now, all she really needed was some time to herself and a little space.
Even Altaph felt a little bad for being so snappish at Wegmeph. It wasn’t his fault that she had gotten distracted. He was very cunning though, so she had to give him credit. So, in quiet apology, she returned the nuzzle against the top of his head, letting him know that she was in the wrong for blaming him for her fault. Eventually, all things forgive, and all things forget.
That’s just how things went.
