First off, if you're reading this, welcome to Guardian's Sky, commonly referred to as GS! If you are looking at this board description, you have most likely joined or are interested in joining. This is the place to go in either case, because here is where information about GS is stored. This board includes our rules, plot, and several important articles related to those two things. Important site announcements are also posted here.

No New Posts TALK

Want to talk? Well, by golly, you've come to the right place! GS makes no claims to sanity and plenty of claims to community, so this is one of our most important boards. If something doesn't go anywhere else, post it here. This is used for the majority of our out of character interactions. Sub-boards have been put in place for specific purposes, like playing games and asking questions. Keep our rules in mind, but try to have fun!

Come and spend your hard earned diasks, the Pohonian currency we use here! You can buy both official things from the main shop and other things like art and images from players' stores here. If you want to try to earn some more diasks, you can set-up your own shop. Staff will handle all necessary transfers of diasks by accessing the interface that controls them. Please be patient with us; we'll make sure it gets done.

No New Posts MANAGE

This board is staff only. It isn't to be used to keep unnecessary secrets from members, but it is meant to help us keep what secrets we need to keep, like hatching plans and future plot events. This is a bit of a privilege for staff as well, since it can be used as a place to relax and discuss ideas outside of the main sectors of the site. Being staff is, of course, a privilege in and of itself. Live up to responsibility.

This is the history of GS, the hard, unabridged copy of the history of GS. Looking for an old thread? Check here. Nothing is deleted without a very big, very specific reason. Basically everything is archived. If a thread doesn't have any posts from the past one or two months, it's moved to the archives. We do not go through and move simply completed threads here. We do sweeps. Threads can be placed back in play upon request.

Characterization

No New Posts PENDING

Character application forms and information on what characters we're currently accepting can be found here. Please post all new applications within this board so that staff can review them. We will try to be quick and efficient about looking over applications, but please give us at least twenty-four hours to get to yours. A character's application must be approved before they can be roleplayed. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask staff.

No New Posts STORING

All accepted character applications are moved here by staff and placed in the appropriate sub-board. We do not lock active characters and encourage our roleplayers to keep their applications at least fairly up-to-date. All characters belong to their respective owners. Remember to be original. Thieves and cheaters end up dead in back alleys or gunned down with assault rifles. Those are just facts of life. Look, don't touch.

Happen to have a plan? Got some genius idea wiggling about your mind? Simply suffering from the insatiable need to roleplay? This is the place to find some comrades who can help you out. Torture your characters. Have them fall in love. Go crazy. As long as it doesn't encompass the whole site or involve death, you should be good to go. Do try to clear larger plots by the staff; we may be able to help you with logistics.

In The Eyrie

Board Threads Posts Last Post
No New Posts CANYON BED

The eyrie is built into a natural canyon in the northern mountains. The canyon is fairly narrow, considering how tall it is, but it's still several hundred yards across at all but the narrowest point. A small stream trickles out of the stone as the cliffsides taper into a third wall. It forms a pond at the canyon's northern point. The one open end of the canyon is walled off by a rock barricade. The eyrie's reddish canyon base has been made into a fortress.

No New Posts GROUND CAVERNS

The caves at the base of the canyon's walls are large, carved out by water when the rock of the canyon was split. They play home to those in the eyrie who are not riders or destined to possibly one day be riders. Craftsmen and workers have rooms and shops within these low caverns. Children are watched in the creche, and a collection of communal bathing rooms, heated from deep beneath the eyrie, serve anyone who needs them.

No New Posts KITCHENS & STORES

The kitchens provide food for the entire population of the eyrie, simourvs and animals aside. The kitchen cavern itself is huge, complete with tables, sinks, stoves, and hearths. There really isn't much of a place for formal dining. Most people eat in their rooms, the kitchens, or one of a series of antechambers that serve as small mess halls. The mess rooms lead back to the stores. Chores typically include work in the kitchens and stores.

No New Posts FEEDING PENS

Simourvs are omnivores and meat is a basic part of their diet. In order to accommodate them, several spacious pens of grazing cows and sheep have been set up for them to feed from. Near to those are the eyrie's kennels, stables, and mews. Many pet animals get skittish around the hulking simourvs, but birds, trained dogs, and warhorses are fairly tolerant of them. Of course, only rainbows and smaller greens can fit in any of the buildings. Candidates help with the animals.

No New Posts EYRIE GARDENS

The eyrie has a series of gardens tucked up along its narrowest end. Most of them are just for vegetables, producing things like potatoes and carrots to help feed the eyrie. Canals bring water off the pond at the canyon's northern point to irrigate them. Up on the banks of the pond, there are a few flower gardens with beds of randomly scattered native blossoms. Few people visit the gardens for anything but chores, so they can be peaceful.

No New Posts CLIFFSIDE CAVES

Caves dot the canyon's walls, high above the reach of most humans. These are where the riders live. Most of the caverns are actually still empty, unfurnished and unused. Only around sixty or so have been made ready for riders. The personal dwellings of the simourvs and their bondeds are affectionately called eylings. Each eyling is simple, designed with a chamber for the rider and a chamber with a ledge for the simourv. Bathing is done in communal chambers set-up between clusters of caves.

No New Posts GUARD HEIGHTS

The rim of the canyon leads into a flat plateau and then onto snowy mountains. Two ledges stick out from the canyon's open side. Rocks have been set around their edges, forming low, circular lips. These ledges are the guard heights, where the riders aside of the eyrie's guard squad keep watch. They offer the best view of the surrounding land and the sky. Each ledge has space to easily fit two gray simourvs, though one is marginally smaller.

No New Posts CANDIDATES' BARRACK

Tucked against the cliffside, this building is neat and made of wood. The candidates are given simple living arrangements. The large outer door opens into a foyer with a couple of chairs and tables. That leads into two halls. One hall is for boys and boys only. The other hall is for girls and girls only. Each room has a set of bunk beds, two chests, a chair, and a small table. The candidates are expected to handle living with a roommate.

No New Posts WINGLETS' BARRACK

The barrack where the winglets live is huge. It towers over everything else in the canyon's bed. There is no outer door on this building. The long hallway within opens right out to the air. A fully grown gray simourv can just manage to walk inside and squeeze into one of the barrack's hulking rooms. Each room can be rearranged to hold one or two occupants, depending on size. Currently, the Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie winglet classes resides here.

No New Posts NESTING SANDS

While wild tawny simourvs might nest, the clutches of grays are better suited for hardening on heated sands. A huge cavern in one side of the canyon has been converted for nesting. Ledges dot the sides of the cave, offering places for watchers to perch. A giant dip in the center of the floor, taking up much of the space, has been filled with very fine, soft sand. Heat from deep within the mountains has been directed to heat the rock beneath the dip to a scalding temperature.

Across The World

Board Threads Posts Last Post
No New Posts SKYWARD

Only simourvs and their riders can reach the freedom of the open air high above Pohono. Skyward means anyplace, anywhere in Pohono, though few fly beyond the northern continent. The crisp, even air of Spiderland isn't difficult to fly most of the time, though storms occasionally rage through the mountains and across the seas. Also, the winds are often quite cold. Female simourvs rise to mate in the sky with male suitors in their wake.

No New Posts SAYAIE

Sayaie was the original settlement on Pohono. It rules over the largest peninsula of the Spiderland and the Aethyls Isles. Most of what surrounds Sayaie is farmlands and plains. While basic agriculture is its main production, it contains people from all major crafts and is the center of education, holding what little technology remains. The main holding of Sayaie is surrounded by a low wall, designed to help defend the town from xymokoxi.

No New Posts CHYDYN

Chydyn is built in the northern forests and controls the eastern most section of Spiderland. Nearly impossibly towering trees surround the village. While the town was originally designed on the ground, it has been built up high into the branches, where safety from the koxi can be found. Platforms on top of the trees serve as stations for watching simourvs. Chydyn is known for its exportation of the giant, meaty nuts that are native to Pohono.

No New Posts ITNALA

Built across the sound from Sayaie, Itnala rules over the two western peninsulas. It is rather isolated from the other two settlements by land, but it is a fishing village anyway. It actually has two harbors, both of which are filled with ships. A tall tower is built on a small island at the edge of the large harbor. The watchtower is where the simourvs guard. Aside from that, Itnala is rather open and unprotected, made of squat wooden cottages.

No New Posts UNEXPLORED

Much of Pohono hasn't been explored. The rough outlines of the world's two other continents are known from old records, but they have been left untouched. Sweepriders make occasional passes out across the oceans towards the shores, but no one sets foot on the eastern and southern continents. Koxi have been spotted on their shores and there are rumors of carnivorous trees. This board is closed for roleplay without prior permission from the staff.
