Woah, feels just a little creepy being the only thread in this board. But anyhow, just thought I'd introduce myself a bit. I'm currently in twenty five years old, holding down a pretty busy job in real-life, but in my spare time I enjoy games and RPing. I was part of the Redwall Online Community in its heyday (if anyone even recalls that now) and that was where I began RPing too. From there I moved on to random horse and wolf RPs, and eventually ended up here

First character is up now, and hopefully a second will follow soon. What amuses me most though is that the simourvs are modelled off a creature in a game that isn't even released yet (I would bet the admins were closely watching new game releases, haha).

And I know this is really early and preemptive, but I noticed you are planning on making a healer? My winglet is a surgeon, so we should plot them in some way. (Actually, on that note, I may have another idea for your new candidate, too, which I will PM you when I am feeling more articulate.)

Hello there! Yeah, there was a giant introduction thread here when we first opened up and for months after that, but then none of the newbies felt like introducing themselves, the silly gooses.

Anywho, I'm Bre. *tips hats* I love new members. =D

We may have an original rider spot available too, just to tell you, if you're interested. Simourvs are sexy beasts. My friend (EBD the chronic stalker, she does it in real life too, so yes, people, she is around, be very afraid) was willing to give her greenrider up to Killy, but Killy likes her candidate idea, but my friend also likes the idea of a crazy candidate, so you can totes have it (correct me if I'm wrong, Killy, Zeis, anyone). Because I like you. And I like riders.

Also, this entire game is Zeis's fault. She showed me the preview for The Last Guardian and I wanted myself a Trico. Unlike some people, when I like things, I get them.

Hey, thanks everyone for the welcomes I look forward to getting to know all of you as well! And your charries too - shall not leave them out of the intros I think Rainer and Horatio (when he's ready) will be more than happy to start meeting all of you.

@bre - Yes, I thought there might have been a desire to own a Trico involved somewhere, haha Though I feel kinda' sad the Trico in those Last Guardian trailers seems to have no wings. Oh and noted with thanks on the greenrider opening; I'll mull on it and get back again as I hadn't thought much about a rider since I read there were no openings left. Just a quick question - do green simourv impress only to homosexual men/heterosexual women as with the Pernish dragons? The write-ups didn't specify on that so I'd like to be sure.

Birdy - Cool! Do you draw simourv and dragons too? And by 'band' you mean jamming sessions right? Which instrument do you play?

Fox - Yep we meet again! Horatio is so going to wish to meet the midwife; he's going to be 17 years when I start him so he's still getting exposure and considering his specialization in the medical profession.


And just a more generic question - at what age do young people start apprenticing or training in their chosen...crafts (for lack of a better word)? I know in the Pern of Anne McCaffrey it would be 8-10 years when they start, but not too sure of Pohono.

So, anyway, I don't know if this helps you at all, but my surgeon's apprentice, Ri'ley was fifteen when he started his apprenticeship, and he was 23 and about a year and a half from finishing his apprenticeship and starting his own practice. (But he also was not on track to skip any intermediary step between his apprenticeship and having his own practice, so I extended his apprenticeship a bit from the traditional seven or eight years to ten years. That, and I think it's appropriate to assume that he'd have more training since he does a lot of dangerous work with people's bodies.)

I think we are generally assuming that the rules on Pohono work like the traditions of craft guilds and apprenticeships of Medieval Europe. At least, that's what I have been assuming when I write my characters, with a bit of freedom.

ALSO, you could hold out on making a rider and take one of the winglets after the activity check. All the characters that are not claimed get put up for adoption, and the Alphas (the first class of winglets) are awesome. I mean, I guess you could really take one of them and make a rider if you want, but I was just throwing the idea out there.

Considering my Pernese greens Impress heterosexual men on occasion, no, greens will pretty much pick whoever they like. They do slightly prefer females to males though.

With apprenticeship, it really depends on the craft and the individual. Weavers and seamtresses would start younger than most other crafts, guards start later, fishermen in between, etc.

Kat, you do realize the activity check won't happen until all the original riders are made, right? We need the originals before we sort out adoptables/find out who I can kill dramatically.

Kat - Thanks much for the help with the ages, it's cleared things a great deal! I'd like to start a thread or two between Ri'ley and Horatio if possible when he's up. And yes, I think Horatio should meet L'nan too - for reasons to do with plot chaos Did I mention that Horatio and Rainer know one another? No? Well, it'll come clear when one reads his profile, haha

@bre - Thanks much for your help too, I've gotten a better idea of things and Horatio should be up soon. On creating a rider however, I'm afraid I may have to pass - holding down a full-time job in a forever understaffed office and too much OT takes it's toll. I'd dearly love to pull up a greenrider (the idea is so tempting!!!), but if I do I may not get around to it till at least this weekend
