Name: T’an (Taynan)
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Sexuality: bisexual
Rank: Bluerider
Location: Eyrie
Personality:
While he isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, he makes up for this by protesting loudly that he “totally did know the answer and was just testing you”. He often speaks to others in a very condescending manner, though he doesn’t usually realize it. Part of this comes from over exposure to the greatness that is Deneph and part of it is his own small dose of narcissism which likes to show its face at the most inopportune moment, such as when he’s trying to compliment someone.
Unlike Deneph, T’an actually has a bit of a preference as to who he’s pursuing but knowing that Deneph will chase at any chance he sees, he never really bothers to protest anymore.
He’s very loyal and will bravely stand up for those he cares for but if someone is intimidating him personally, he will go for the tough guy act at first but then resort to running away or hiding behind the nearest object, usually Deneph.
He also has a bad habit of cross-dressing, donning a skirt and other girlish things and then frolicking around the weyr to see who will recognize him (he puts extra effort into making himself unrecognizable) and who will fall for his girlish charms. His flamboyant side (where he is overdramatic and over uses words like totally) usually shows itself while he’s dressed as a girl, adding to the effect but can also appear while he’s dressed normally.
He hates potatoes.
Appearance:
Short and lithe, T’an can be mistaken for a girl even when he’s dressed as a boy. Though not overly muscular, a life of working in the fields has gotten rid of any excess fat on his body leaving lean muscle in its place. He stands at an unimpressive 5’5” leaving him shorter than most other males but he doesn’t particularly mind. Long legs are his favorite feature, allowing him to walk faster then most.
His eyes are pale blue and set in a round child-like face. His features are small and delicate, with thin pale lips. T’an skin is anything but tan despite his long hours in the sun, the only effect sun has on him is adding a bit of color to his cheeks. He keeps his long hair tied back in a loose ponytail but a great deal of hair manages to escape the tie and frame his face. His hair is thin and a very pale brown that gets a few shades lighter in the summer but not much.

Simourv Name: Deneph
Simourv Color: Blue 120A8f
Simourv Age: 4
Personality:
Completely self centered and conceited Deneph is positive that he is the best creature on in the universe and often reminds others of his greatness. His favorite person in the world would have to be T’an and he is constantly telling other Simourvs that their riders are inferior to his and that they are inferior to him. Deneph refers to himself as “we” as he is obviously above the usual “I”. This self obsession causes Deneph to be very focused on shiny objects as he likes to stare at his reflection and admire his greatness. He urges his rider to the same, but T’an who has the slightest bit of sense knows better than to waste his time staring at himself.
The blue spends long hours of the day preening himself and making sure every feather is in order properly cleaned. Any free time is spent perfecting himself and keeping himself up to his standards of greatness.
The only thing Deneph likes more than staring at himself, preening, and telling others of his greatness is chasing female Simourvs. He doesn’t pay as much attention to the color of the Simourv he’s chasing but more to the fact that people will be watching him. If he’s the only blue chasing a Grey who are they going to watch? Him! Catching the female is a bonus. Yes, he is that self centered and selfish.
Appearance:
Deneph is a lovely blue deep enough that it’s bordering a blue-purple. This color covers his body from the base of his neck and goes all the way down to his tail where it fades into an almost cyan color. His head and neck are both a very clean white as is a stripe on the underside of each wing. His muzzle is black along with a stripe at the base of each wing and his legs.
This Simourv is built much like an sports car, sleek on the outside but with lots of muscle underneath. At 50' even he's a typical length for a blue but he likes to puff out his chest to make himself look bigger. Because to him, size does matter. He makes sure to move with grace both in the air and on the ground though his flying is definantly better then his walking.
Parentage:
(Wild Gray x Wild Black)
History:
Born and raised in Sayaie, T’an came from an agricultural family that mainly grew potatoes. Prolonged exposure to this plant has grown in T’an a deep hatred for the crop and he refuses to eat or touch them.
T’an was certainly not his parent’s first child but he wasn’t their last either. Lallyn and Juin were both born in the first few years of colonization on Pohono. They were childhood friends and their friendship soon turned into something more. Both had come from large families and wanted the same for their children. By year Twenty they had their first child, a girl named Risti. In the following 8 years they had five more children. Around this time, Lallyn fell ill and barely survived. The effects of the sickness left her weak and it took her many years to recover fully. After a gap of 8 years, Lallyn gave birth to Taynan in year Thirty-Five. It didn’t stop there and two years later Loli was born, a sweet little girl with a mass of curly hair. Less than a year after giving birth to Loli, Lallyn became pregnant again. There were complications and Lallyn died shortly after giving birth to the little boy. As if this wasn’t bad enough, the baby lasted a mere three days before succumbing to illness. Taynan was four.
Though their mother had died, the younger children still had a motherly figure in the form of Risti who took it upon herself to care for the younger children while Juin and the rest of the family worked the fields. As the older children grew up they too began to work the fields and it was just Taynan and Loli who were in the house all day under the watchful eye of their older sister. The pair became close friends because of the age difference between them and the rest of their siblings and spent nearly all of their time together.
Once Taynan turned ten his father allowed him to work on the potato fields. He did simple jobs and spent most of his time talking to Loli who would sit in front of the house. Once Loli was allowed to work, the pair did all of their chores with at twice the speed so they could spend the rest of the day picking potatoes and trying to find ones with odd shapes.
His older siblings married and had children of their own and soon it was just Juin, Loli, and Taynan working in the fields. By this time Taynan was 17 and a hard worker but seven years of nothing but planting and picking potatoes and whole novelty of working the farm with his father had worn off. Loli, who was 15 had interests of her own, mainly the son of the farmer who lived next door. The girl spent less and less time in the fields with Taynan and more and more time at other boy’s house and soon she stopped helping at all. For a year it was only Taynan and Juin waking up at dawn and caring for the crop until sundown.
On a particularly hot day in year Fifty-Three Juin left Sayaie to go visit Bae’s family in Chydyn. Luck was not on his side for not an hour after setting foot outside of the wall he was killed by a Koxi. When word reached Taynan who was working the fields he quickly left the farm, leaving the land to his multitude of siblings and leaving Loli to pursue her own life at the neighboring farm.
Taynan had never travelled outside of Sayaie and he heard of an expedition he has no second thought about going. This was a new start for him, to meet new people, explore a world that wasn’t the farm and to never have to touch a potato again.
He could have never anticipated the change the expedition would make on him. When they found the ailing Grey and her clutch he was just as excited as the rest of the expedition. After all, Simourvs killed Koxi and Koxi had killed his father. More Simourvs meant less Koxi and he wanted the horrid creatures to be destroyed. When the eggs hatched and the hatchlings began bonding Taynan stood firm, willing one of the fluff covered hatchlings to come to him. Luck was on his side and handsome simourv that had spent a good deal of time after hatching preening his blue-purple feathers picked him out from the crowd and trotted over to where he stood. A strong voice filled his head You there, T’an. We spotted you from over there a while ago but we needed to preen ourself first. Appearance is everything, and we are the best looking in this entire clutch. We are the best and you are the best. Don’t let anyone tell you differently T’an. Your Deneph is hungry, feed us! With that, the blue flicked his tail and stared at the boy expectantly and a lifelong bond was formed.
T’an has taken to Eyrie living well, it seems like luxury to him after the years of farm work. Once Deneph was fully fledged he spent his free time seeing every part of Spiderland he could in an attempt to make up for all the years he’d spent in one place.
