Name: Faiyn (Fay'n)
Age: 14, Autumn
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Rank: Candidate
Location: Sayaie
Personality:
Faiyn is the type of girl who never knows just what she wants or feels. Sometimes she might think that she wants solitude and peace of mind, only to discover that she is craving the company of others. She might feel irritation or frustration towards a friend, and shut them away, only to discover that she wishes them back. Her body may be pretty, but she still doesn't understand it. Her mind may be intelligent and witty, but sometimes she can't get herself to use it. And her heart may be kind, but she still can't understand what it's telling her. It's like she's an alien to her body, tripping and falling over her own two feet. Afraid of commitment, never making up her mind.
But as a law of her life, Faiyn never expresses what she's feeling inside. She thinks that the world could do with one less person's problems. So she never confided with anybody about what goes on inside of her. Nobody knows how she really feels or thinks. Instead, they see her as a fun-loving girl, quiet in most respects, although still witty and charming. To some degree, they do notice some of her mood-swings and her sudden changes of mind. But they never believe that it's anything really important. Faiyn is less intelligent than witty. She can't blurt out facts about Pohono, and she knows as much about the fabled simourvs as a child who has heard nothing but bedtime stories. But instead, she's witty, and logical.
She has a wry sense of humor, and a bit of a sarcastic outlook. She doesn't have much of a temper, keeping it inside of her by instinct, and saving her revenge for a later time. She is quite social at times, and has turned out to be a sort of trafficker of gossip. People feel like they can confide in her, and do just that. She never tells anyone, save for a few close friends, who can make no impact by knowing. She's extremely faithful, and a loyal friend. When it comes to leadership, she isn't afraid to step up to the plate, although she would much prefer to follow behind someone, helping them up when they fall. Her biggest flaw is her indecisiveness.
Appearance:
Faiyn is not strikingly beautiful, or stunningly attractive. She lacks the blood red lips of a beauty, and the silky hair of an angel. But she is beautiful in her own way, however quiet and reserved it may be. She stands at a relatively average height of five feet six inches, and is of an equally average weight. She doesn't hold herself higher than she is, although she makes the best of what she has. Her body does not sport any particularly defined curves, but she does show some natural ones, from her seemingly lack of muscle on her build. Again, she has little muscle on her, but she doesn't shy away from work. She simply hasn't found the need to strain her body. So instead of forming well-toned muscles on her arms and legs, she has a lean, willowy build, giving her speed and agility.
Her facial features are dainty and quiet, on her smooth, uncreased face, colored a light cream like the rest of her body. Her small almond eyes are a blue, with spots of aqua and gray, giving them a sort of pale appearance. Her hair, wavy to a bit below her shoulders, is a light creamy gold. Her hair is usually wind-blown, with the appearance of being not very well-maintained. Faiyn prefers it down all day, although she does braid it when the heat becomes unbearable with her hair down. Her lips are small and soft, often expressionless, with the faint trace of a smile.
Family:
Davin (father, 42)
Karita (mother, 40)
Pets: none
History:
And now the reasoning behind Faiyn's mindset:
Her father, Davin, was a book binder. He was quite the charming man, though quiet; much like Faiyn, except he was of average looks. He wasn't much of a social buzz, preferring to spend time with a few close friends, and his books. Before Faiyn, his whole life had been about books. Her mother, Karita, greatly resembled her in looks, although that was as far as the similarities went. When Karita began seeing Davin, she was feisty, headstrong, and intelligent. They had been in the same village for their whole lives, but they didn't share one glance at each other for years. And when they did, most didn't believe that Karita, the talk of the town, fell for the lowly book-binder. But she did, showing her heart and kindness by doing it. For a few years, Karita was happy with her life. But she heard the gossip, the whispers that Karita shouldn't be happy with that Davin. That she was so much better than he was. Like the social buzz she was, Karita began to think that the whispers were true. Davin wasn't good enough for her. So she left.
But before she opened her ears to the gossip, Karita had given birth to Faiyn. From the beginning, Faiyn was a quiet baby. She rarely cried out, and even her tears were with minimum sound. It was obvious that she inherited her mother's looks, and it would soon be obvious that she inherited much more from her father. Karita adored her, Davin as well. For years, she was the only thing that kept Karita by Davin's side. Until she turned four, Faiyn had a relatively normal childhood. Every night, her father would come into her bedroom and read her fairytales of the simourv and the xymokoxi. She grew up hearing about the most wondrous things, giving birth to a colorful imagination. Karita introduced her to the social life, and she grew up with both her mother and her father's charm.
But when Faiyn turned four, her mother decided that she was old enough for Davin to take care of her by himself. So she left, leaving a heartbroken Davin and little Faiyn. She left the village, probably moving to a different one, in pursuit of a man better suited to her tastes. Faiyn grew up with only her father, and she relentlessly asked the question that all single parent children asked: "Where's mother?" But Davin didn't tell her the truth until Faiyn was seven. Perhaps that was a mistake. Faiyn asked herself how her mother could leave them like this. How she could bear to break her heart, as well as Davin's. She couldn't answer herself. But she came to the conclusion that she would never grow to be like her mother. She may look like her on the outside, but one the inside, she will never be her mother. Faiyn believed that her mother was simply afraid of commitment, of settling down and raising a family. So, unknowingly, she made way for her own fear of commitment.
But Faiyn never stopped loving her father, and soon she forgot all her memories of her mother from her childhood. Now her imagination made her mother to be an evil spirit, who broke the hearts of men and left children crying. One day, when she was around ten or eleven, Faiyn came to a secluded clearing, in search of a bit of peace and quiet. She had been sitting on a rock, by a small creek running through the glade. She stooped down to feel the water, and, looking up, she found herself face to face with a blue simourv. She wasn't sure if it was wild or not, but she stayed there, staring into it's large eyes, for quite a long time. When she got back, nobody believed her story. But she knew it was true, even though she was only ten. She also knew that someday, she'd be around them everyday.
Desired Color: Blue or Red
Undesired Color: Tawny
Reasoning: The blue and red simourvs are contrasts of Faiyn, one like her and another one almost the opposite. I think she could connect with it more if they were one of the two. She can associate with the blue, and perhaps learn something from the red.
Injury/Mauling: Maul away. It'll be good for her.
