Name: D'lyn (Danalyn)
Age: twenty-three, born in autumn
Gender: female
Sexuality: heterosexual
Rank: Green, Northern Sweeprider
Location: the Eyrie
Personality:
D’lyn makes an interesting first impression for a rider. She appears private and silent, saying little. For D’lyn actions are everything. The turn of the head. The raise of the eyebrow. The quirk of the mouth. D’lyn grew up this way under the watchful eye of her father. A cool deliberate fellow, he had no gift for words, and his daughter found that communication was just as easy without them. Though she uses few words, D’lyn has no difficulty in getting her point across. Her eyes, as well as all her features are highly expressive, and it’s not difficult to determine what she means.
Though she says little D’lyn is by no means reserved. D’lyn has strong convictions and passions, which she fully expresses. In her opinion everyone has a right to be heard, and you /will/ know if she disagrees with you. D’lyn has been known to punch before speaking when there’s a problem. However, D’lyn is quite caring. It will take time to force her to aggression, and she would rather be a friend than an enemy. This is a part of D’lyn’s optimism. She always assumes the best of people and situations. She has hope abounding, another attribute of her father. Even after the death of her mother, her father was extremely present in her life and gave her the strength she has as a rider.
From the farm, D’lyn developed her sense of focus and responsibility. With only two running a farm there was much work to do. In order to get it all done the father daughter pair had to work together and maintain focus. D’lyn grew up practicing teamwork and is a supportive team player. She is also, however, quite independent. Her father was fairly hands-off, allowing D’lyn to develop personal confidence, and leadership skills. She follows just as quickly as she leads, with the quiet grace she possesses.
Though she does put work first, D’lyn is extremely playful once work is done. She loves games, and is quick to compete. She loves physical sports and is quite confident that she can compete. She’s also prone to pranks. Everyone deserves a good pranking every now and again. Because of her silent nature her mischievous streak often comes as a surprise to those who do not know her.
All in all, D’lyn is quite serious when it comes to her responsibilities, but when work is done, it’s time to play.
Appearance:
D’lyn possess that “natural” look. Her outdoorsy style is unkempt and uncaring. Her wavy hair is cropped short, and generally pulled up into a messy bun, with a lock of hair falling free here and there. To keep the strands back she ties a strip of green cloth around her head like a bandana, and always wears a couple of Sehraph’s feathers tucked into the cloth.
As if to make up for words, D’lyn’s features are more expressive and dynamic than most. She has wide, high cheekbones and slightly angled eyes that give her an interesting and quizzical brow. Her eyes, though angled, are large and expressive, and she makes use of her eyebrows and her eyelids to portray her thoughts. A range of emotions from a sarcastic sidelong glance, to an abashed downward cut of the eyelids, flit across her features and speak just as loudly as words. Her mouth is neither large nor small, and her lips are thin. Her mouth is just as expressive as her eyes. The lips quirk up to one side mischievously, revealing impending doom to the unlucky party. Just as quickly they press together in an effective disapproving frown.
Her skin is tanned, but dashed with freckles across the nose and cheeks. She has a way of looking constantly sunny and warm. It’s in a way that bespeaks of the outdoors. As if, every moment, she was saying “Yes, I’ve always been out here, and always will.”
Her build is lean, but muscular. She works hard to be as fit as her simourv. Her muscle is not bulky, but it is quite apparent, especially in her broad shoulders. Her hands and feet are a bit larger than usual, but both are surprisingly quick.
For D’lyn, body language is key, and because of this she has good awareness of how she looks. Her stride is deliberate, but quick, with a confident swagger in her hips. She stands tall, though not haughty, keeping her shoulders back. The way she moves her shoulders is generally the key to her emotion. Slouched forward she’s tired or abashed. Thrown back, she’s confident and ready.
Family:
Father: Danic (Farmer, 49)
Mother: Janelza (Deceased)
Brother: Petor (Deceased)
Pets:
None.
Simourv Name: Sehraph (SER-aff)
Simourv Color: Green
Simourv Age: four
Personality:
Sehraph is your typical green. Highly excitable, highly talkative, highly playful. However, she is not in total contrast with D’lyn. The pair truly complement one another. Sehraph, first, is extremely talkative, as most greens are. She fills the air with chatter as if to make up for D’lyn’s silence. Rather than being annoyed, though, D’lyn enjoys it, and takes Sehraph’s gossip as a constant stream of legitimate information. D’lyn speaks to Sehraph more than most and Sehraph takes joy in that. D’lyn’s attentiveness toward her allows Sehraph to feel special and loved.
Sehraph has low confidence in herself. As a green, She feels she is not as perfect or fit as she could be if she were grey or tawny, but D’lyn cultivates confidence in her. By constantly encouraging her, and paying special attention to her, D’lyn brings out the real Sehraph.
The real Sehraph is just as mischievous, playful, and competitive as D’lyn. She loves a good game, though feeds off the confidence of D’lyn to have the courage to compete. In games she often lets fully loose, forgetting almost all in the game. Sehraph has just as much focus as D’lyn though she often devotes it to the wrong thing. She is capable of completely devoting herself to a single task, and does a fantastic job when she picks the correct task.
Like any green, Sehraph is moody and can quickly change from one emotion to another. This is in contrast with steady D’lyn, but both enjoy their differences. Sehraph can be angry and protective one moment, thoughtful the next, and then bubbly and overjoyed just moments later. For many, these sudden shifts are exhausting, but D’lyn takes it in stride, overriding Sehraph’s mood swings.
Over all Sehraph is a sociable creature. She is extremely friendly and talkative, she really enjoys the company of others. Though she’s not that focused on males or mating, she can be a bit of a flirt, as most greens can. She is extremely devoted to her job and place, realizing how important it is to D’lyn, and they make a smooth-working team.
Appearance:
Sehraph is a fairly average green being 20ft. at the shoulder and 42 ft nose to rump. Her markings follow a sort of “gradation” pattern, with yellow and light green markings on her head, tail tip, and tip of the wings. The light green flows into a darker green, which in turn flows into the dark olive green of her body. Her legs and beak are dark grey in color, accenting her yellow features. Her talons are a deep black color, as are her horns. Seraph has horns shorter than most that curve only slightly back.
Sehraph keeps herself in good order, her feathers neat and well preened so she always looks clean and is ready to fly. Her body is lean and muscular, like most greens she is very slim and agile. Her muscles are built and trained for endurance. She may not fly the fastest, or pack the hardest punch, but her muscles can work for much longer than the average simourv.
She has a quick excited gait, moving rapidly wherever she goes. She holds her tail low, but her head high. Sehraph has also adopted D’lyn’s slight swagger, and so has a casual swing to her hips.

History:
Danalyn was born to a small farming family that had just moved into their new farming land. With several plots for growing the local produce, the open land seemed an ideal place to grow up for a young girl. And it was. The family lived happily for two years until the young couple decided to try for another baby. The pregnancy ended in disaster with both the death of son, Petor, and mother Janelza.
Danalyn was too young at the time to fully comprehend the loss, but her already quiet father sank deeper into himself to cope with the loss. Danalyn did not allow her father to fully withdraw, however. Her feisty spirit and readiness to work helped to bring him out of his shell and to begin again to care for his farm. The two were opposites, but quickly grew to be like each other. Father Danic became more open and daring. Daughter Danalyn became more quiet and thoughtful. Together they grew through the devastating loss of mother and brother, and the farm once again became successful.
Danalyn grew to have the knowledge to run the farm by herself, though her father was always by her side. She was accomplished at many skills including the care of animals, care of crops, and archery. As she continued to grow, she learned more and more, coming to know the farm hands and their skills. She loved her time on the farm, but was more social than her father. By the time she was 16 she would make regular trips into town to visit friends. By eighteen she spent much of her time in the town, helping to sell the goods of the farm. This was how she found out about that fateful hunting trip. She had signed up to go in order to see more of the countryside and was surprised when they discovered the ailing grey simourv with the clutch of eggs.
Danalyn was shocked to awe at the sheer size of the simourv, but was not afraid. She remembered the others. Filled with a strange sense of reverence she was active in the effort to help the grey, and was sad when it at last died. She had been awed by the gentleness and seeming wisdom of the creature and anticipated that the hatching would be calm and reverent… it was no such thing. Danalyn did not anticipate bonding with one of the creatures, so when a vibrant green burst forth from an egg at her feet, she had no idea what to expect.
The green paused, watching her, then its eyes gleamed and it seemed to smile, knocking her roughly in the knees and nipping at her kneecaps playfully. Danalyn fell back in surprise and immediately the young green simourv peered at her, worried. Was I too rough, D’lyn? Is it okay? You look okay. Are you okay? Danalyn, now D’lyn, paused in surprise at the voice, but grinned suddenly. "I like you," she announced quietly, and Sehraph wriggled with pleasure and snuggled down next to D’lyn until the hatching was over.
Over the next weeks D’lyn worked to raise Sehraph, and the two began to share the deepest of bonds. Though this sudden change was not unpleasant, it did not come without some pain. The farm was all D’lyn had known in her childhood, and though she missed her father and life on the farm, she was not ready to give up this new life with Sehraph. Though Sehraph did not fully understand D’lyn’s pain and indecision, she was able to help comfort her, and through the weeks the two grew closer and closer. Sehraph even developed a vicarious love for D’lyn’s father, feeding off the warmth of D’lyn’s love. When at last it was time to move to the eyrie, D’lyn was no longer indecisive. She was ready to start this new life.
Since then Sehraph has had one flight, in which she was caught by blue, Kilenph. D’lyn had been afraid of the results of Sehraph’s flight, but was not shaken afterwards. She had known Kilenph’s rider, and liked him well enough, though she wasn’t sure what to do afterward. But such was life in the eyrie, with constant questions and few answers.
