Name: A're (Amare)
Age: 23 (as of Year 59), Spring
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual
Rank: Greenrider, Guardrider - Eyrie Night Watch, Searchrider
Location: Eyrie
Personality:
A're is fairly easy-going, and generally is a pleasant enough sort - perhaps moreso after his bonding to Muraaph than before. He is usually fairly up-beat and social; he smiles and laughs easily, and enjoys listening to a good story or joke 'though he rarely tries to tell one himself - he feels he is not particularly gifted in that area. He does, however, know how to play a lute, and also hold a vocal tune - his voice low and sonorous. He will, more than willingly, pick up a tune on his instrument if anyone shows the slightest interest, however he grows somewhat shy when asked to sing, and will often refuse. Muraaph is the only one who does not provoke this shyness from him, if she requests it, he will sing whatever she desires.
He, like his Green, is a horrible flirt and a bit of a tease - he treats romance as a game and one that he prefers to win. He is opportunistic: he has a slight preference of men over women, however, generally finds interested women decidedly more common than men. He rarely remains with a paramour long, and does not think much of long-term relationships - the idea of such a commitment actually frightens him a bit. Prior to the bonding, he would have felt somewhat similarly about the idea of being bound to a Simourv - however, obviously, his ideas on *that* have changed.
A're enjoys games and gambling, as well as fine things. He keeps a number of trinkets - useless baubles, for the most part, things that intrigued him, or that he found a pretty sight. He is good at bluffing his way through card-games, and quickly reading the expressions of others. He also has a proclivity toward cheating, which has gotten him into a good bit of trouble in the past. He is not afraid of brawling, for all his slight build, and will occasionally provoke fights for the mere entertainment of it, with little care whether he wins or loses. Muraaph has, however, drawn him away from the practice of picking fights - the Green becoming very overprotective and volatile when she finds him injured, even with only minor scrapes and bruises.
Despite his love of a good fist-fight, A're is somewhat daunted by the idea of battling koxi - if simply for the fact that the great reptiles are so much larger than himself, and in some rare instances larger even than his Muraaph. He is deathly afraid of her being injured by one, a fear Muraaph does not seem to share. In the few encounters with the creatures which he and Muraaph have had since bonding, he has often advised her to err on the side of caution in regards to them - harrying, but not engaging directly. He is not sure what should happen to him, if Muraaph were seriously wounded or killed - he does not feel he could live without her.
Appearance:
A're stands at 5'7", possessing a slender build. He is by no means overly muscular, and at a glance may even appear hardly athletic at all, given his preference to wearing slightly looser, oversized clothing. However upon closer inspection he shows a wiry sort of musculature, more fit for a dancer or a sprinter. His skin is fairly darkly tanned, a deep bronze in tone, and his hair is nearly jet black, worn to a bit below his shoulder and often tousled when it is not bound back in a short queue. His eyes are a warm brown, wide and expressive, with thick dark lashes, often giving the impression that he is younger than his 21 years. This impression is not helped by more-often-than-not clean-shaven face - usually kept thus out of his own vanity, and also his tendency to grow in rather unbecoming, scraggly facial hair. He wears a good number of scars, mostly small and insignificant nicks on his hands and arms - many about his knuckles. There are also a few upon his face - the most prominent being a short mark at his right temple, just to the side of his narrow brows, and another slight gash just to the right of his lips, giving his smiles a slightly lopsided appearance.
A're tends to hold a fairly loose, relaxed posture. He can, obviously, hold at attention - however he only does so when he feels it is of necessity, such as in the presence of his superiors. He has a preference for loose clothing which allows him more freedom of movement. If he can get away with it, he will forgo footwear altogether, preferring the stability of his own ten toes to the soles of boots. He, of course, wears standard riding gear when he is on duty, and can manage a respectable exterior, at least, during his watch flights.
Family:
Mother - Makeda (Seamstress, 40)
Father - Kaleb (Tanner, 46)
Younger Brother - Marik (deceased)
Pets: N/A
Simourv Name: Muraaph
Simourv Color: Green, 99FF00
Simourv Age: 5 (as of Year 59)
Personality:
Muraaph shares the same relaxed outlook as her rider, and if allowed to it, can be a very lazy creature. She enjoys napping and reclining, particularly in A're's company. She is very fond of her rider, and often does not seem wholly cognizant of their vast differences in size - perhaps thinking herself still the size of a hatchling in relation to him. When she is in a playful mood, she headbumps, nips, and bats at her rider - in a wholly good-natured manner. While she is careful at this, she is occasionally over exuberant in her play and can sometimes cause him small injuries. She can become very distressed over this, however much he makes light of it.
Muraaph is very easily distracted as well as easily excitable, and tends more often than not to gravitate between the two poles of sleep and play. However, when it comes to her attention that there is a threat to her home, her family, or particularly her A're, Muraaph becomes a creature of singular focus. She can be extremely overprotective, and will tear into any perceived threat with a ferocity belied by her slight form. She can also be very possessive of her rider, and those things which she sees as *hers* - primarily gifts which A're has given her - and will occasionally interpose herself between him and his desires. While she understands that this distresses him to a degree, she also feels that it is in their common interest.
Since coming of age, Muraaph has picked up on a few of A're's more dubious tendencies. Muraaph is very flirtatious around male Simourv, moreso when she is nearing ready to Fly. She has even taken up using a few of the pick-up lines she's gleaned from her rider on them, much to A're's embarassment. Like A're, she does not think at all of taking a singular mate - while she may dote on a previous consort for a short while after her Flight, Muraaph will always lose interest quickly enough. While she finds the mating Flights entertaining, Muraaph also finds a great many other things entertaining depending on her mood at the time.
Muraaph enjoys her time spent flying with her A're, while on watch duty. She often points out items of interest to him, as they fly over - while her own eyes see well enough in the dark and at a distance, much to her dismay A're's do not. She occasionally swoops low so that they both might examine plants, insects, rock formations - anything that intrigues her at the moment.
Appearance:
Muraaph is of about average size and weight for an adult Green Simourv - she is built for speed and agility, and thus is fairly lithe and streamlined. The majority of her body is a vibrant lime-green color, shading toward lemon yellow on her ventral side. The feathers on her back and face shade darker, to a forest green near so dark as to be black. The undersides of her wings and tail are primarily yellow, with the backs a darker green. Her feathers are banded with dark green, primarily on her wings and the tip of her tail. Her horns and talons, once a bright orange, have dulled as she aged to almost brown - their tips are still fairly bright, however. While her front horns are fairly short, the back set sweep nearly straight back between her ears, holding only a slight downward curve. Muraaph's eyes are a bright orange, often wide and inquisitive. The backs of her ears are of the same nearly-black green, however there are bright yellow eye-spots on their backs, showing near like beacons against the dark feathers on her head. Muraaph's legs are long, their backs covered in fine lime-green scales, their forward side armored in large, thick scales of a deep forest green.
Muraaph carries herself with her head held high and alert. Her ears are often pricked up, twitching back and forth to catch the slightest sound. This intense alertness gives her a nervous look, which is often belied when she throws herself bodily down into a lounging heap of feathers, sprawled comfortably like a giant cat. When Muraaph mentally speaks, her voice is smooth and sibilant. The words come more quickly when she is agitated, and her tail lashes back and forth energetically.

History:
Amare was born in year 36 to Makeda and Kaleb, a pair of craftsmen - his mother a seamstress and his father a tanner, both living and working in the outskirts of Chydyn. Neither particularly wealthy nor particularly poor, Amare's family usually ranged comfortably in-between. In year 41 Amare's parents conceived a second child, a boy who was named Marik. Marik's birth preceded a bout of hardship in his family's life - the increasing koxi attacks upon the human settlements making his parents' work more difficult. The cattle and fiber crops his family cultivated to make cloth and tanned hide were ravaged in the assaults, and his family had little coin to their name. Marik took ill some three years after his birth, and before another year had passed the child died of his illness. Amare's parents were devestated by the loss of their youngest, and Amare worked harder about his home to try to help ease their grief.
At the age of 12, Amare decided that his lot in life was to serve as a hunter, to protect his home and bring needed food and materials back to the settlement. His family apprenticed him into the trade, and over the course of 6 years he learned the skills necessary to subsist as a hunter - armed and unarmed combat, the use of bows and simple firearms, what plants were poisonous and which might be of use, and when it was wisest to flee in the face of large reptilian predators. Amare was also acquainted with the hounds occasionally used by hunters to flush out game and seek out items of interest - he was very fond of the creatures, however he never managed to acquire enough diasks to himself to purchase one from the houndmaster.
As Amare grew older, he drew further and further from his family, 'though he still sent them the fruits of his labor. He found a place to stay near the heart of Chydyn, and often frequented taverns and houses of ill-repute, often gambling away what money he had kept for himself. He occasionally won large sums, but more often than not he lost them soon after. He became somewhat infamous among his social circles - for his luck at the table (dubious, at best), his easy flirtatious manner, and his tendency to insinuate himself into fights he could not win. Still, Amare continued his training as a hunter - taking what entertainment he could when his apprenticeship allowed it.
At the age of 18, Amare joined his first major hunting expedition venturing far afield of Chydyn. The group consisted primarily of a number of youths, meaning to prove themselves, and set off into the mountains in year 53. This group stumbled upon an ailing Grey and her clutch, and feeling pity for the great Simourv chose to remain by her side, trying to nurse her back to health and care for her eggs. Amare himself was initially terrified of the large creature - while he had heard tales of the Simourv saving settlers under koxi attack, he had never seen one before and was unnerved by her great size and sharply curving horns, talons, and teeth. Over time, however, he grew more used to the Grey's benevolent presence, however over that time she also grew more and more sickly.
When the Grey finally succumbed to her illness and breathed her last, Amare was saddened by the death of so great a creature, however his grief did not have long to last. The excitement of the eggs hatching quickly washed over the hunting party, Amare included. He watched, shocked, as one egg abruptly burst open, launching a flurry of pinkish crimson feathers at another boy in the group. Another egg, nearer him and colored a vibrant orange with duller violet stripes, began to hatch shortly after this drama broke out. Amare, startled by the sudden cracking of the shell and squalling of the beast with in, tripped and fell in his hurry to get away from the thing, just as a smaller green Simourv broke free of the shell. The creature, smaller than some of the others but still larger than the biggest dogs Amare had been acquainted with, ambled awkwardly over to him and regarded him a moment with wide orange eyes. Then, with little warning, the young Muraaph bumped her head hard against Amare's - now A're's - chest and with a chirping yawn sprawled herself across his legs. Near immediately calmed by the empathic bond created by the Simourv, A're sat quietly with her while the chaos of the other hatchlings bonding ensued.
A're, beside his fellow former-hunters, worked to teach and care for his new charge - learning even as he taught Muraaph the things he felt important. He readily moved with the other riders to Eyrie, having no real ties to keep in his home of Chydyn given how long it had been since he had seen his parents. A're dreads the idea of returning to them, unsure of what they would think of him.
Since coming of age, Muraaph has taken Flight twice. Her first flight ended, eventually, in her being caught by the Red Canph, who had so frightened her A're during their hatching. While A're was initially rather concerned with the sudden urges which arose with Muraaph's flight, he quickly came to terms with them - her choice hadn't proven *so* bad for him, after all. However he has since taken to speaking with her on those choices, and adding his own input on what *he* feels a decent match - a bit concerned by his own real lack of choice in the matter, and in this way trying to influence Muraaph into choosing suitors whose riders are more to his own tastes. Whether Muraaph has paid him any real heed in this is questionable, as in her Second flight she was caught by a Blue whose rider A're had no real strong inclination toward one way or the other.
As they have become more comfortable with their new home in Eyrie, Muraaph and A're have taken up watch duties for the settlement. A're is happy enough with the arrangement - begrudging a bit the hours of the night watch, which he had previously found preferable hours for gambling and entertainment - however he enjoys having the time alone with his Muraaph, that they might speak without the many crowding voices of their fellows. Recently, they have been asked to search out potential Candidates while off watch duty - a job which Muraaph has taken great interest in, while A're is less excited with the prospect.
