Name: M'ari (Mazari)
Age: 21, Summer
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Rank: Greenrider, Sweeprider- Southern Sweeprider, Searchrider
Location: Eyrie
Personality:
M'ari is very much the type to Impress a green. He's friendly, dashing, charming, and witty. Or at the very least, he's pretty sure that he is. Individual opinion may very, but M'ari believes himself to be a real ladies-man. He has a very high self-esteem, and is very self confident. He takes great pride in his appearance, and can be pretty shallow when it comes to beauty or looks. He is a rascal when it comes to romance, and will shamelessly flirt with any pretty girl he sees regardless of his current relationship status. He is an excellent liar, and his romantic spiels can be very convincing if often not at all true. He has earned himself a reputation for being a liar and a scoundrel, though he very much disputes these claims and tries to defend himself.
He may be a heart breaker, and a skilled dissembler but according to himself he is really not such a bad guy. He may love to fool around, and spend most of his time partying than working but beneath that he is pretty civil. For one, he is very friendly, and enjoys the company or others and conversation. He can at least pretend to have excellent manners when he needs them, and will generally obey orders though he usually keeps a somewhat frustrating casual air when dealing with authority. That is unless he is in trouble, in which case he is the living image of remorse and regret. He may enjoy having a good time and occasionally bending the rules, but he does have a healthy sense of self preservation. Its best to avoid trouble, and not get caught when you do start it. On that same note he is fairly cautious when it comes to putting himself in danger, which depending on the situation can become a streak of cowardice.
He is generally a very optimistic and upbeat fellow, and its very hard for others to tear him down. Even when he is in a tough situation, hes usually still joking and grinning, albeit nervously. He enjoys being a social, and tries to make a friend of everyone he meets, even if they specifically don't want to know him. It's difficult to get him to take a hint, and he'll continue to treat unfriendly people in a jokingly courteous manner. It takes some serious offense to get him angry, usually something morally wrong or an insult directed at someone else. When angry or upset at someones mistreatment, he has a tendency to jump in the fray to protect them without really thinking. His bravery is short lived, and he often regrets it the moment he does. He doesn't like to fight, because quite simply he doesn't like pain, but he will reluctantly put himself in harms way now and again. He seems to have a slight double standard on how he treats women. He will gladly defend their honor from outside insult, but he will break up with a girl without a thought once another catches his eye.
M'ari likes to have a good time, an is very fond of singing, dancing, and drinking. He rather play than work, but he solves this problem by making work as casual and interesting as possible. He has a silver tongue, and is extremely good at storytelling, and more important getting himself out of trouble. He is fairly clever, and has a fondness for books and learning. He is very curious, and sometimes his curiosity gets the better of him. He enjoys competition of any kind, whether it be a riddling contest or an arm wrestling match. He is surprisingly a very gracious winner and loser, and seems to be more about enjoying himself through participation than actually caring about winning or losing.
M'ari can hold a grudge when he feels that someone has greatly wounded him somehow. He never physically acts out his dislike, but he is unafraid to voice it verbally. He would rather say something nasty about a person to their face than behind their back, unless its a really big guy, and then hopefully get out of there before things can get violent. He can also be a pretty slippery and shady character when he knows hes doing something he shouldn't, and has a tendency to act sneakily or even manipulatively to get what he wants. He can be a real rogue at times, and often plays pranks and harmless practical jokes. These can get fairly annoying when he goes overboard. Due to his poor upbringing, he can also be a little greedy and flashy, being gluttonous with food and loving gaudy things that he think symbolize wealth and status.
He is convinced that his Valenph is the most gorgeous Green Simourv that ever lived, and loves her more than he has ever loved any of his romantic interests. She is the love of his life, and his best friend. He talks to her almost non-stop, and has a tendency to share juicy gossip and secrets to her. He also spoils her terribly, and values her opinions above others. While other people may not be able to shake his confidence, a reproach or caution from Valenph certainly will. There is only one aspect of being a Simourv rider that M'ari does not enjoy, and that is his uncontrollable feelings during his Greens flights. Since an embarrassing incident during Valenph's first flight, M'ari has resolved to either lock himself up or find a suitable female partner during future flights. Due to events that occurred during the Simourv hatching, and his mauling at the claws of Canph, M'ari tries to avoid the Red and by proxy his stick-in-the-mud rider whenever he can. It is not that he dislikes K'huna, in fact he's rather grateful for his heroic actions, but he has felt uneasy and unsafe around Canph since the incident.
Appearance:
M'ari's confidence in his appearance and ability is not entirely misplaced. He stands very tall at about 6'2", and has an average lightly muscular build. The young man certainly doesn't look exceptionally strong, but at least capable of holding his own in a fight and efficiently doing most strength oriented work. He has deep tanned skin the color of wet canyon rock, and long wavy black hair down to his mid back. He usually lets his hair down, but ties in back in a low ponytail when riding. His eyes are a vibrant cat like green, and are accented with thick well shaped eyebrows. He has a distinct roman nose, and a strong profile. He is almost always smiling or grinning, and his teeth are white and well kept. He has very light and well kept goatee and mustache, which nothing more than stubble really. Significant scars on his body are several slash marks on his chest and sides, and are souvenirs from his brief violent encounter with the newly hatched Canph.
He sustains very good posture, and usually stands in somewhat dramatic poses intended to make him look carefree and dashing. His success at this varies. He dresses finely in well tailored earth toned clothing (to clearly accent his eyes), both formal and casual. He tends to prefer tight trousers, flowing long sleeved shirts often with an open neck, and knee high riding boots. He adores hats, jewelry, and really any finery he can get his hands on. He can be very creative with what he wears, though sometimes his appearance can be downright laughable or over the top. Though he bathes frequents and strives to keep up a good physical appearance, he is more often than not smeared with dirt or dotted lightly with sweat from some foolish endeavor or escape from a brawl. It is also not uncommon to see him with a cut lip or a black eye, though still grinning.
Family:
Father: Dohn (Drudge, 42)
Mother: Aerin (Deceased)
Elder brother: Sebastian (Deceased)
Pets:
None.
Simourv Name: Valenph
Simourv Color: Green, 4ED006
Simourv Age: 3
Personality:
Valenph is M'ari's partner in crime. Though she seems to have a stronger moral compass than he does. She is often the one who advises him against a course of action, and she has a sense of honor. She may find her riders antics amusing, but she doesn't really want to hurt anyones feelings. That said, she is not particularly intelligent herself and can be very gullible and unsuspecting which her rider sometimes takes advantage of. She isn't very witty or funny herself, but she is a gleeful beast with a love for funny stories and jokes. Though she enjoys working, and generally performs well, she would rather play then work. She can be very patient, and generally does not like meaningless conflict.
She is an extremely adventurous and thrill-seeking Simourv, with a love of exploration and travel. Her ideal way of spending her free time is suddenly take off with her rider to observe from the sky the farthest reaches of the currently inhabited regions of Pohono. Truth be told she has a strong desire to see just what lives in the unexplored regions, but she is also a very simple and obedient creature and heeds taboos and warnings from Eceph as well as M'ari. She is a very brave soul, and would eagerly throw herself into battle, whether serious or for play. She may appear laid back and carefree in her manner of speaking, but she does have a wild side.
This is often what turns her from a voice of reason into an accomplice, because its when indulging these fanciful whims that Valenph becomes less gentle giant and more a warrior. When pressed or threatened, she goes from fun loving and easy going to strong willed and bold. She can be very fearless for a Simourv of her generally small size, and also very reckless. She, unlike her rider, doesn't suffer any anxiety about flinging herself into the fray. She would rather stand and fight than run from a situation. Unless of course that situation involves some serious trouble and getting chewed out for an hour or two, and then she wouldn't object too much to making herself scarce.
Valenph is pleasant to be around, and makes for an easy conversational partner. She rarely has a cruel thing to say to any body, and it is not often that she truly dislikes anyone. She is usually fairly protective of most people she likes, which is usually... most people. She is usually very quick to forgive too, with the exception of one instance. She suffered a great deal of worry and trauma as a Winglet, due to the injury caused to her rider by Canph. The Green has never forgiven the Red, and in a rare act of rudeness will snub and avoid him whenever she can. She dislikes and distrusts him, and though she cannot in good conscience fault K'huna she finds him distasteful by proxy.
Appearance:
Valenph is large for a Green Simourv, nearing the size of a smaller Blue. Like all greens she is built more for speed than strength, but shes fairly sturdy and muscular. The majority of the feathers on her body are a vibrant lime green, that is very eye catching but also very painful to look at. Bold crescent shaped stripes of dark green mark both sides of her expansive wings, and give them an almost hypnotic pattern when fully spread. The same green tips her long bushy tail, and two small curving dabs of it adorn either side of her face. A soft fringe of yellow feathers delicately line her beak, and sparse speckles of the same color adorn her underbelly. Her beak and sturdy legs are a pale yellow color, almost the color of old bones. Curving black talons adorn each of her feet, and her fully erupted black horns curve slightly backward giving her a goat or ram-like appearance. Her eyes are an inky glistening black.
Valenph has a very relaxing slinking way of walking that almost seems more feline than Simourv. She usually holds her tail low and slightly curled upward, but will lash it about if she is agitated or excited. The way she slinks about makes it look as though she is up to no good, and in a way she may have unconsciously picked up the skulking behavior from her rider. Her mental voice is low pitched and deep, giving her a slow way of speaking that seems to fit her easy manner.

History:
Dohn and Aerin were a prosperous young couple. The two had already had their first child shortly after their union, whom they had named Sebastian, and were living comfortably in Sayaie running the inn gifted to Dohn by his late father. In Year 37, the couple were blessed with a second son, whom they decided to call Mazari. The first years of the boy's life were good. He grew to be fast friends with his elder sibling, and though the two fought occasionally neither were malicious. His parents were responsible and caring people, who raised their children with a gentle if slightly spoiling hand.
When Mazari was 5 years of age, his father took him to a meager fair that was being held in the center of Sayaie. An occasion that was rare for the frightened people of Pohono, but made all the more special by the relative peace that had surrounded the last Year and a good harvest. Sebastian had come down with an unfortunate illness, and unable to attend had stayed back at the inn under the care of their mother. Mazari does not remember much about that day other than the frantic yelling of the watchmen, the sudden crashing of crumbling buildings, and the alien bellow of Koxi. His father had hauled the hysterical child to a save hiding place, while the giant plated lizards hunted the towns streets. He was later told that two Simourv had been seen that day, a black and a blue that had harried and driven the Koxi away. But not, sadly, before one had barreled through their family inn, killing Aerin and young Sebastian and destroying his father's livelihood.
Since that day, Dohn struggled to raise his son in the aftermath of the attack, and despite his best efforts the two lived a relatively poor existence. Unwilling to give up his son to fostering, Dohn did his best to hold onto Mazari and teach him how to survive on the streets. They lived primarily off the pity and generosity of others, but as many were displaced and killed by Koxi attacks things remained relatively grim. As Mazari matured into a young man he became a fairly adept pick pocket, and thankfully for him was never caught in any of his misdeeds. Between charity, and thievery, he and his father lived off the Diasks they earned from odd jobs around Sayaie, mostly farm work. When Mazari was 17 years old he managed to worm his way into a hunting party, intending to bring home some quality food as well as spend time with some of the attractive girls also attending. He was not expecting the trip to change his life forever.
The hunting party did not find game, but a sickly Gray Simourv guarding a nest of eggs. Caught between awe and healthy terror, he was torn between wanting to flee and wanting to do something for the ailing mother. He and his father had been saved by the mighty beasts after all. He waited with the others, his own hopes waning with the health of the mother. The boy had not really expected the eggs to hatch, and when they did had watched with apprehension. That apprehension evolved into full blown fear with the hatching of Red Canph, who had in a hungry rage pounced on him to slash and claw at his chest. He was saved by the ill-advised if much appreciated actions of Kirahuna, who with the mental aid of the ailing mother managed to restrain and impress the Red. As Mazari clutched his wounds in shock and agony, a smaller egg hatched revealing a bright Green Simourv chick. The hatchling had shrieked with dismay and anxiety, and rushed to his side knocking him off his feet to crouch protectively and snappishly over him. In short order he had bonded with Valenph.
Unsure of what exactly he had gotten himself into, M'ari, as he was now called, struggled along side the others to deal with his new companion. He found in her a friend and security that had been absent most of his life, and an appreciation for his streetwise ways. He worked hard to train her as she grew, though probably not nearly as hard as anyone else. The young man soon came to enjoy his new life without much personal worries, granted there was always the Koxi attacks. But with Valenph, he was no longer poor. He eagerly moved into the Eyrie with the others, and accepted, if a little grudgingly, the responsibilities that came with being the new protectors of Pohono. When they made their return to the human settlements, he reunited with his father, who now lives a comfortable life as a drudge and servant at the Eyrie. Recently, his Valenph launched into the air with a feral shriek, and rose to Fly for the first time. An event that was entirely unexpected by the Greenrider, who soon found himself strongly lusting for other men. During the flight, Red Canph rose to chase, and upon seeing him Valenph grew into a fury diving at him and chasing him out of the sky. Unwilling to forgive, she spurned his advances and chose a Blue Simourv as her winner, Daneph ridden by T'an. This led to a very embarrassing morning for M'ari, who plans on taking future precautions against a repeat of the event.
