Name: K'huna (Kirahuna)
Age: 25, born in Fall.
Gender: Male.
Sexuality: Bisexual.
Rank: Red-rider, Searchrider/Wingletmaster
Location: Eyrie
Personality:
K'huna is an acquired taste for most. Like all people he has good traits and flaws. On one hand, he is very patient when patience is required. He has a very high tolerance for others, and it not easily angered or irritated. However he is not a push-over in the slightest, and has a dedicated belief in strict discipline. He is civil enough toward others who deserve friendly treatment, but he is not afraid in the slightest to call people out for attitudes or judgments he sees as wrong or misguided. He does not shy away from confrontation, and in fact enjoys arguments, or physical competition when push comes to shove. There is very little, that he has at least experienced so far in life, that could shake or unnerve him. He is extremely loyal to his comrades, and is a man of his word, though this does not necessarily mean he is always honest. He has a very deeply ingrained respect for authority, and his elders, and follows orders well, though he does have the occasional lapse in judgment.
He is a hard worker who takes pride in a job well done, and is willing to work with others to accomplish a common goal. He also takes great pride and interest in physical strength and appearance, and strives to keep in shape and live a very healthy lifestyle. In a casual setting he is often aloof and laid back, but in a formal one he is usually stern and businesslike. Despite his gruff outward appearance, and often teasing comments, he has a general affection for animals and children. Children because of their innocence and amusing mischief, and animals because of their usefulness and simplicity. K'huna has a good sense of humor, and is usually willing to converse, though it is not often a deep conversation. All in all he is an extremely dependable fellow, and friendly enough as long as no one gets in his face.
On the other hand, K'huna's personality can be quite abrasive to those who do get in his face. For one, he is a very mouthy fellow. Indeed it is his mouth that often gets him into trouble. He has a tendency of saying things bluntly, usually observations or remarks about another person, that end up sparking conflicts or upsetting others. He is not always aware of the effect his words have on others, when its not an intentional insult anyway, and can be dismissive of other peoples feelings when confronted on the fact. According to him they just need some thicker skin. He can be very sarcastic, and has been known to tell a fib now and then. That said he is a terrible, awful liar, and he does his best to avoid it, instead lapsing into awkward silence if theres an answer he doesn't want to give. He also tends to curse, not often out of anger, but as a part of every day language use which can be... very colorful. When actually angered, K'huna can be a force to be reckoned with. He can be very insulting, and if the situations gets physical, he is more than willing to put a stop to it, preferably with his fists.
He has a tendency to champion physical strength over mental ability. In truth, his physical strength and prowess could be considered better than his own mental strength. That is not to say that he is stupid, but he is not especially clever or eloquent. For example, he would much rather spar or wrestle than read a book or write a poem. He does recognize the need for clever minds and intelligence, but he is content to leave the real thinking to people smarter than him such as his Canph. He relies much more on common sense, and while he may not be especially bright, he has been known to speak unexpected if foul mouthed bits of wisdom. As mentioned before he has great pride in his own physical ability, and is somewhat vain in his attempt to take good care of himself.
When on the job, K'huna can be very stern and very demanding. He takes any task given to him very seriously, and carries it out to the best of his ability. He expects others to do the same, and above all he expects respect. He has a very strong sense of will and determination, and often sticks with the decisions he makes. He can be a bit of task master, and a stern disciplinarian, but he treats everyone fairly. He makes just as much of an effort to get people to enjoy and take pride in their work, as he does in making sure people actually do it the way it needs to be done.
K'huna also has his vices. He is fond of either sex, though he has a preference for women. He makes no real effort to seek out relationships, but he gladly pursues anyone who expresses interest in him first. He would gladly spend time and effort on the needs of a mate, but he would not usually save himself for a specific one unless requested to. Granted he usually has enough foresight to inform his current partner of this before he takes other romantic opportunities. He can be very forward once he's interested. K'huna is also fond of drink, though he is responsible enough to never let this affect his duties as a Rider to the Eyrie. He saves getting stone drunk for special occasions alone, where it will not interfere with work that needs to be done. In his spare time, K'huna enjoys physically oriented activities, such as sparring or exercise. In terms of manners, he's got rather poor ones when off duty, though he is always respectful and presentable when theres a need for it. In other words, he's a slightly unorthodox fellow, but he gets the job done.
Most of his time is monopolized either by work, or by handling his temperamental Simourv, Canph. His outward interaction with the Red might lead one to believe that the two fight all the time, and don't like each other at all. While they do fight all the time, the second conclusion is far from the truth. K'huna has a deep affection for Canph, which is why he labors so hard to reign in the Simourv's behavior and keep him occupied. Though he may often be furious at Canph, he does not stay angry for long. He would never admit it for fear of encouraging his Red, but he is sometimes amused by his childish mischief. It is a bizarre, but healthy relationship.
Appearance:
K'huna stands rather tall at 6'1", is very in shape, and generously musclebound for a youth of his age. He's not over-muscular, but has an athletic body type like that of a swimmer or runner. His skin tends toward the paler side, but is often lightly tanned or sunburned from time spent outside. His hair is a slightly curled, glossy black, and is kept long at a little past shoulder length. It always looks extremely well cared for, and hes somewhat vain about it. He wears it loose when casual, but when on duty he keeps it pulled back into a severe looking bun. He has a very light unkempt beard, that is more unintentional than a matter of style. He has an angular face that could be considered handsome, but not not overly so for several reasons. For one his nose, long narrow and regal looking has a knob in the bridge, as if it were broken in one or several fights. More noticeable though is that his face always seems to be set in a permanent scowl. Not his entire expression, but his brows are always knit together in a seemingly disapproving or glaring way. He could be smiling or laughing but still scowling! On the occasions when this expression does leave his face, like sleeping or sheer surprise, there are permanent wrinkles on his forehead from the sheer duration of the expression. It gives him a a permanent grumpy look, and makes his youthful face look a bit haggard. His eyes are a very light honeyed brown, and are almost startlingly yellow in their appearance. His lips are of average fullness, and despite his constant glare his mouth bears wrinkles from at least smirking if not smiling.
K'huna bears a decent amount of scars on his body from his old occupation as a hunter, as well as sometimes violent events involving his Red Simourv and Koxi. These are often visible because casually, K'huna prefers to wear little clothing if he can get away with it due to the temperatures associated with Eyrie living. Long or short breeches, riding boots or barefoot, and typically a short sleeved tunic or no tunic or shirt at all. For non casual wear, he prefers the protective clothing of a Simourv rider regardless of whether or not he's actually riding. A long loose coat, thick gloves and boots, and goggles. In terms of posture, his is purely situational. When by himself it's simply terrible, and he merely stands however hes most comfortable. When on the job though, he strives to maintain as perfect posture as possible. Appearance matters when it comes to ones job after all.
Family:
Father: Aldon (Hunter, 45)
Mother: Evelyn (Tanner, 43)
Older brother: Abel (Hunter, 25)
Younger brother: Kail (Smith, 22)
Pets:
None.
Simourv Name: Canph.
Simourv Color: EB1927
Simourv Age: 3.
Personality:
Canph is trouble with wings. As his color might suggest, he has a volatile and unpredictable personality. For one, he is very cocky and self confident, regardless of his own ability. He believes he is one of the most handsome, and toughest Simourv around, good enough to rival a Black in chase any day. He is very clever but can be somewhat oblivious and thoughtless to things that should be obvious to anyone else. He may not realize immediately the consequences of his actions until he has already acted, or made predictions while ignoring the obvious reality. He likes to think of himself as very intelligent, and he is, but he is ultimately too short-sited and over-complicated in his thinking. He is very easily bored, and when he is bored with a task he is very easily distracted. He is quite mischievous, and delights in causing trouble through tricks, pranks, or just general stubbornness. When caught or confronted with his tricks, he feigns innocence and is quite an accomplished liar.
He can be extremely rude, and has seemingly picked up some colorful words from bonding with K'huna. He is very secure in his own abilities and self esteem that verbal insults usually don't phase him, which is thankful for a creature of his size and strength. However, other things do manage to anger him. He is an extremely jealous creature, and is very protective of K'huna, and anything else he deems as belonging to him. Most of this jealousy is a result of misinterpretations, and ill-perceived favoritism and slights. He can't stand to lose, especially in a flight which he has quickly come to view as one of his favorite types of conquest. Often the tricks he plays, and his rudeness is based around petty revenge.
He is an extremely flirty and forward Red, and doesn't discriminate much between the variety of female Simourvs in terms of attraction. He takes enjoyment in the conquest of romance, as well as hunting Koxi. Thankfully, he saves his worst behavior for those plated creatures. His behavior can sometimes be irrational and malicious as in all examples noted above, but any incidents involving any misbehavior on his part aren't usually a close succession of events.
This is due to his bond with K'huna, who he sometimes views as a boring grump, but also loves and cares for deeply though he might be stubborn about admitting it. In truth, Canph seems to act up just to get attention from K'huna, who is seemingly the only human capable of reigning in his behavior and keeping him in line. He grudgingly accepts the rule of Grays, but it his is Riders words and disappointment that have a profound effect on him. That is not to say he is cringing at being scolding, when in fact the two argue and butt heads almost all the time. More often than not, the seemingly macho Canph ends up 'guiltily' remorseful when K'huna gets the better of him in an argument, like a child regretting some misbehavior. He seems to need the constant checking, and stern handling that K'huna provides and is often sweeter and more manageable after a confrontation.
With his Rider handling him, he becomes a more focused and directed Simourv. Able to attentively and effectively fight Koxi, and successfully perform other duties given him. He is a hard worker when actually made to do work, and is prideful in his ability to perform well. When not unruly, he can be fairly eloquent and charming, and fully cooperative. Almost a wholly different Simourv. Granted, he can still be a little pompous and a bit of a braggart when things are going well.
Appearance:
Canph is an average size for an adult Red Simourv. His body is fairly bulky and muscular, both from being the color he is and rigorous exercise he undergoes alongside his Rider. His feathers are mainly a bright crimson red, but he has rosy pink splotches about his neck, and a similar colored ridge of feathers alongside either cheek. More pink of the same color covers his rump, the very tip of his long tufted tail, and the very tips of his wings. A vibrant stripe of hot pink and black crosses his hind flanks, and make up the central feathers on his massive wings. His beak is a more delicate pink, and marked boldly with black around the nose and edges. His eyes are a chocolate brown, and often glance about shiftily, never focusing in one place for long unless its K'huna. His bird-like legs are a warm fleshy pink, and the toes of his broad feet are tipped in curving black talons. His horns are a similar color, and both sets fully erupted and curving slightly apart giving him a devilish appearance. His bat-like ears are especially large, and almost comical looking despite how handsome he thinks he looks.
He feathers are very well cared for and gleaming, and suggest a very healthy bond between himself and his Rider despite how often they clash. He can never seem to stay still, and is always lashing his tail and cocking his head this way and that. Canph has a tendency to pace about, and make small irritating noises if he's bored or insulting sounding chattering if hes angry. His mental voice is smooth and charming at times, and impatient and whining at others.

History:
Aldon and Evelyn, born and raised in Chydyn, were gifted with a second son in Year 33 of human settlement on Pohono. They named the boy Kirahuna, and raised him along with their eldest, Abel, in an atmosphere of hope, and stubborn determination. When Kirahuna was 2 years old the third and final member was born into the family, his youngest brother Kaim. Some of his earliest memories are of crowding stealthily just beyond a closed door with his brothers, and eavesdropping with a mixture of fascination and horror to the whispered accounts of Koxi attacks his father told his mother. He and his brothers were often regaled with stories about the miraculous appearance of Simourv in times of dire need, though these were often much embellished by his father for dramatic effect. And so it was that he and his brothers, thick as thieves already and prone to mischief, grew up playing pretend games where they were the great beasts patrolling the skies and scuffling with Koxi, which was usually played by a single unfortunate sibling.
Kirahuna grew up alongside his brothers to be an obedient, hard working, if still sometimes mouthy or trouble making young lad. His father, often off on hunting expeditions, became his role model, while he was actually much closer to his mother, who was a nurturing if stern woman. His father, when he was there, was a strict man, and saw to it that his sons got worthwhile educations, and an early start on their future professions. In idolization of their father, Kirahuna and his brother Abel followed the path of the hunter, and were taught physical combat and falconry. The shadowy threat of Koxi attack urged him to excel in his training, and instilled in him a strong sense of responsibility. He often dreamed of bringing down one of the great plated lizards, and striking back at the menace that had plagued the community his entire life.
When he was 21 years of age, Kirahuna was chosen to join a hunting party of young enterprising hunters and warriors. It was then in the mountains that they discovered the sickly Gray Simourv, and her clutch of 24 eggs. The boy was astounded to find himself confronted by the very creature he had only heard tales of, but never seen. He remained with the others in the wilderness as a year passed, unsure of what was going to happen but not wanting to abandon the dying mother and her vulnerable clutch. The time came when the eggs hatched, and one by one the Simourv chicks emerged from their colorful shells and seemed to bond with the humans observing them. The Red chick that would come to be his own had erupted shrieking and hungry from his egg, and in a confused fury set himself upon the youth nearest to him, a boy named Mazari. Kirahuna, shocked by the violence of it, dared dive after the hatchling and pulled it off of the unfortunate. His attempts to restrain the Red resulted in a marked set of scratches on his arms and legs, but most notably a bond with the volatile Canph.
Like the other's who impressed chicks that fateful day, K'huna as he was now called, struggled to raise his new life-partner. Despite their constant bickering, which has been consistent from nearly day one, the two have their own strange way of showing affection and have proven themselves focused forces of nature in battling Koxi. Along with the others, K'huna and Canph made their home for three years in a large canyon collectively known as the Eyrie. There the two of them established reputations as accomplished fighters, if at times highly irritating ones. In the past year, Canph chased and caught a Green in flight, and has more recently chased a Green simourv known as Valenph, who as fate would have it was bonded to M'ari, formerly Mazari. Remembering the trauma caused to her rider at their hatching by the Red, the Green spurned Canphs advances and instead chose a another suitor, Blue Deneph. This had led to a petulant grudge on Canphs part, which K'huna is doing his best to keep an eye on. Currently, the two are preparing for their future roles as Wingletmasters, and the future clutches who will one day be their pupils.
