K'ean of Red Seronaph

K'ean is not a particularly friendly person based on first impressions. He is distant, reserved, serious and generally appears to be quite the stick in the mud. Of course, he has his good days and he has his bad days. If you catch him on a good day, there's a good chance that he will stop to talk and actually be a nice person. Bad days, however, see him distracted and grumpy and frankly quite unpleasant. He has his friends, though they are few in number, and relationship wise he is quite happily unattached, though he has no preference towards men or women in that area. A former hunter from Sayaie, the redrider and his grumpy simourv have recently been chosen as the Bravo Wingletmasters!

Seronaph is one of the testiest, grumpiest creatures to ever take flight in Pohono's skies. He has no qualms about insulting his rider in front of others, but takes offense at any other insinuating that K'ean is anything less than perfect. Basically, it's a no-win situation for the average person who comes across him. However, the simourv has recently discovered a penchant for... cute things. Like his students. They're adorable. Tell anyone he thinks this and you will be at the mercy of his claws. Mark that. Simourvs he tolerates include Greens Valenph and Muraaph, as well as Liliph for the moment due to residual affection (if you could call it that) from her flight. And Canph. Of course.

Currently, K'ean has been doing reasonably well for himself on the subject of friendships; A're of Green Muraaph has rapidly become one of the few people whom he is comfortable with, and he has met up again with Alpha Winglet Ri'ley of Black Dionyph, a friend from Sayaie. There is mutual respect between him and fellow Wingletmaster K'huna of Red Canph, whom he respects for his work ethic and no-nonsense attitude. Seronaph, of course, gets along with his red brother like a house on fire, and is eager to plot evil doings behind his rider's back. That date auction was a stroke of genius. N'raan of Red Teimoph has proved himself worth watching, warily, when he sneaked into the older redpair's eyling. Now, K'ean is of the definite opinion that those two are trouble. K'ean also is still somewhat awkward around Fe'ra of Green Liliph after the latter's flight, although his simourv shows no such embarrassment. A budding, rather reluctant interest has stirred for Winglet T'ia of Green Shovaph whom he searched in Chydyn and who since then has been pursuing him with a will, but otherwise K'ean is as yet unattached. Friends are always welcome for either of them, just as much as enemies and attractions! K'ean certainly wouldn't mind getting to know his students, for one thing.

There has not been much progress with K'ean, sadly, and he is still very much open for plotplotplos of any kind! 83

L'nan of Tawny Eoreph

Before being searched, L'nan, or Lea (As she will insist you call her) was a midwife in Itnala. As such, she is most decidedly a mother hen type of person, and would probably plague a person either into liking her or disliking her with a passion. This diminutive lass will mother anyone and everyone if given the chance, though her style of doing so definitely tends to shade over into being plain bossy. She's making friends, though, slowly but surely! On the other hand, Lea is most definitely heterosexual, but she views romance and love from a slightly cynical point of view. She can go off on a long lecture about priorities and what’s important for your life; basically acting more like a jaded forty-year-old woman than a girl of eighteen. She's mellowed out more recently from having Eoreph to temper her opinions, but romance is still something she feels has its time and place. Which is not now.

Eoreph is her tawny, and is a sweet, motherly little creature, if somewhat shy. As with any other new rider, L'nan is besotted, but Eoreph isn't above nudging others to help her bonded when Lea is being too stubborn. She rarely speaks without being spoken to, unless the situation calls for desperate measures. It would take a gentle hand indeed to draw her out of her shell, even though she has been opening up more to her siblings since her hatching. Their riders are another matter, though. As yet, she has only spoken to two humans besides her bonded; Ri'ley of Black Dionyph and Ze'el of Red Dareph. Friends amongst her own siblings include Red Dareph, Black Dionyph and Blue Othokenph. Eoreph also finds herself intimidated by several of her green sisters (i.e. Shovaph and Akaturiaph) who make her feel, oh, about six inches tall.

L'nan currently has two very close friends. Ri'ley of Black Dionyph, whom she has a tendency to mother even though he's a foot and a half taller than her and five years older, and T'ia of Green Shovaph, currently in charge of reacquainting Lea with her more feminine side. She is quite determined to ignore th rumours circulating regarding herself and Ri'ley, and intends to simply carry on the friendship, no matter what he has to say about it. Dionyph has also become one whom Eoreph considers a friend, though she remains astonished at her brother's verbosity. Similarly, L'nan has made up her mind to befriend Ze'el of Red Dareph, despite the fact that their first meeting didn't end on a very auspicious note. Eoreph, of course, is quite fond of her red brother and finds him very kind. Other friends include Am'ra, newly of Tawny Philomeph and T'gan of Blue Othokenph. However, Lea has unfortunately taken a decided dislike to N'raan of Red Teimoph, whom she sees as an annoying ass, and to a lesser extent, the tawnyrider finds herself wary of charming flirt M'ari of Green Valenph, chiefly because she thinks he needs to be taken down a peg or five.

Aaaand, L'nan and Eoreph need more plots too! ;D Though there is something in the wings with Ri'ley of Black Dionyph... But that's another story.

Sil'us of Black Restaph

Sil'us, formerly Silvanus, was a the co-owner of a slightly shady apothecary in Chydyn before moving to the Eyrie. He’s a bit of a cad, and lies fall from his mouth more often than the truth a lot of the time, but for all that he is normally a semi-decent guy. He's still in somewhat of a daze as a result of bonding to Restaph at the third hatching, but he'll bounce back eventually and be his usual charming self. He's pretty ambivalent when it comes to preference for either gender; as long as you're human he'd be willing to give it a shot! But he isn't really the type to sleep around either, as he sees it as far too easy a job to do. A thrill-seeker through and through, Sil'us wouldn't be averse to meeting former customers, friends, enemies, or even love interests!

Lady is the only steady female in his life; his cat. Large, and more than willing to display her claim over Silas, this kitty has sharp claws and isn’t afraid to use them. She might like you or she might not. It all depends.

Restaph is the cool, level-headed black who chose Sil'us on the sands of his second standing. Rather prone to rational apathy, Restaph is generally a kindly fellow, though he may hold himself somewhat aloof from society as a whole. It stems from no consciousness of rank, but rather from the fact that to him at this moment, only his rider is important to him.

Currently, Sil'us is absolutely over the moon and smitten with his Restaph, though getting him to admit to it would be rather like pulling teeth. His elation at the bonding is almost enough to overcome his worry for his brother, Sylvester, whom Sil'us has not heard from in some months. Whenever his twin decides to pop up again, rest assured, Sil'us will not be at all pleased with him. Besides that, friends at Eyrie number at Ma'ro of Blue Hummiph, E'ry of Green Kaykeetaph (whom Sil'us rather enjoys flirting with, and might not, perhaps be averse to anything more, but only after he settles in with Restaph), H'tio of Blue Ourobeph (to an extent). He also is faintly amused by Ja'son of blue Foph, who seems to be almost repressed in his grief, and Sh'gir of green Anaph, who is, frankly, rather adorable. Of course, there have also been a few less pleasant encounters, including those with Ri'ley of Black Dionyph and T'ia of Green Shovaph, both of whom Sil'us has run afoul of in the past due to his less-than-accurate products.

Still open for loads of fantabulous plotting, oh yes!

Br’an of Green Niataph

Br’an is a very friendly person. He likes to meet new people, and generally tries his hardest to be a good friend to just about everyone. However, the greenrider and wingletmaster is also a deeply insecure lad, and he’ll take even the smallest criticism to heart. He’ll read meanings into things that aren’t there, and generally be over-sensitive to the point where he sometimes jumps at shadows. It would take a lot of patience to be anything more than a casual friend with him, despite his happy demeanour because the smallest thing can usually make him run for the hills or sink into his shell, mortified. Of course, friends are always, always welcome, as well as enemies or those who simply don’t like him. Romantic interests… are welcome to give it a shot. Br’an is quite adamantly heterosexual, though he won’t object to a little harmless flirting from the male quarter. Just don’t push it too far, as it’s one of the few things that can well and truly annoy him. Or you can, if you want to get under his skin. It’s an option.

Niataph is the best green on Pohono. Nay, she’s the best simourv on Pohono (excepting Eceph) and you better believe she’ll enforce that. Nia is fastidious, pushy, demanding, and incredibly vain bordering on narcissistic. She’s apt to issue orders to anyone and everyone, whether their someone else’s rider or one of her red brothers. She has absolutely no bias to whom she will attempt to turn into her own personal slave, because she and Br’an are better than you, and you’d all do well to remember it. Currently, she has very few rivals! For shame; this, at least, she should garner in the bucketload. It’s easier than becoming a friend of hers, at any rate. She’s open for rivals, enemies, the occasional friend, and anything else besides.

At the moment, Br’an and Niataph are sitting on their hands in between preparing and waiting for Eceph’s next clutch to arrive. There is some awkwardness in store between poor Br’an and Es’tev of Red Hjolteph; left over from a highly embarrassing flight two years ago!

I remember reading K'ean's application and thinking that him and my candidate, Ripley were quite similar. But anyway, Ripley is very much a little perfectionist, doesn't talk much, and he obsesses about just about everything. Before he was a candidate, he was a surgeon's apprentice in Sayaie, so if you want to work some sort of past history, we definitely can. I don't know if their similarities will make them more likely to be friends or enemies, and I'm open for anything and everything.

I also have Ros'n, a Blue Rider, and the Chydyn Watch Lieutenant. I feel like Ros'n is the kind of person K'ean might find a touch annoying. She is very rash, both in her actions and her speech, and she has an unfortunate tenancy to act before she thinks. She also talk a lot, is easily distracted, and can be a touch over flirtatious. I imagine K'ean might find her unprofessional or something, and be a bit resentful or mean towards her? I'm open for other suggestions, I was just throwing her in the mix.

I'm more than willing to throw in characters to thread with him - 'though I'm not sure how they'd all get along.

A're is my greenrider - 'though we've already decided who caught his Muraaph on her two flights so far, so sadly I can't offer them up for that. He's usually friendly enough, 'though. He might also have ticked K'ean off, however, as he tends to be kind of lazy about his duties as night-watch. Not sure if K'ean'd be much for playing cards, but A're also plays (and occasionally gambles) against other people at Eyrie during down-time. Anyhow. More than willing to throw him up as a potential friend or annoyance-type.

Not sure how much K'ean would have to do with Candidates. I have Teagan and Niraan. Teagan would probably leave him alone - that might change after the bonding, but that's future things that I am hazy about right now. Niraan would definitely make himself out to be an annoyance eventually, if he ever actually met K'ean. He tends to go out of his way to get under people's skin - unless he wants something from them, anyway. He was also from Sayaie, but probably not someone K'ean would have known.

Anyhow, if you've any interest in threading with any of 'em, I'm more than happy to.

Well! That sounds like a good idea. They do seem to have quite a bit in common; with the perfectionism and high standard shaping their lives. And since he lived in Sayaie, I actually doubt that they couldn't not know each other. K'ean was a rather clumsy child, and as a teenager he tended to get into scrapes following his mother on hunting trips and learning the trade. It is more than likely that Ripley would have encountered him as a patient more than once. On a more personal level, he'd probably respect Ripley for his abilities and character, and I doubt their similarities will be too much of an issue with him. What was creepy, though, that I read in Ripley's app; his sister's name was the original name for K'ean's younger sis. I shortened it from Amaryllis to Rilla because my friend and I just got used to referring to her via the short form. xD Eep.

As for Ros'n. You're right in that K'ean would find her a little bit annoying, and a tad unprofessional. It's the little things that would pile up: the fidgeting, the flirting (which he normally wouldn't mind much), the messiness... Yeah. He wouldn't be mean, per se; polite but probably a bit chilly and he won't quite be able to resist a jab or two at her lack of neatness or something. ^^; I'm assuming that might tick her off?

Haha! The funny thing is, A're is just so likeable that likely K'ean would be amused despite himself. Eh, the plot with the greenrider will remain open then, should someone want it. No big deal. Hm, K'ean would take issue with A're being lazy for night watch, but considering his overall personality, and the fact that he amuses K'ean more than anything else, he'll probably get off with a friendly boot if K'ean notices him slacking :]. He plays cards, too, though not spectacularly (although he has a fantastic poker-face), and is iffy about gambling, but not averse to it so there's another avenue of thought. I'd be happy to thread with A're, he's quite a darling. : D

As for your candidates... Well, K'ean is a little indifferent to the Candidates as a whole at the moment. His interest lies mainly in who will impress a hatchling and will likely only make an effort to get to know any of them after the hatching. Therefore, I think that pretty much leaves out Teagan for the moment, and Niraan as well, unless they meet by some coincidence or other. I'd be curious to see Niraan and K'ean go at it, though. I never get tired of people who get under my boy's skin. ;]

Fe'ra's in the same watch, and she's rather friendly, but I doubt they'd be the best of friends. At best she'd be a little sister figure, they'd be friendly but mostly he'd just be one of the people she reports to. She does her job, but isn't overzealous about it. And I've already figured out Liliph's last flight, unfortunately.

Elan and him might be able to have some fun in the future. She has been drilled with responsibility, honor, and duty as a guard... however she's got a morbid sense of humor, an offensive honesty, is highly opinionated, and has never been too fond of the original simourv riders. Perhaps, with some friendly headbutting, K'ean could changer her mind? They'd probably make odd friends, or rather friendly rivals, with Elan naming off battle scars and horror stories for the sheer fun of it just to try to see K'ean squirm (which is highly unlikely, but she'd still have fun trying). She might even try to get him drunk a time or two. Still, until Elan bonds, I doubt they'd really even see each other. The ex-guard from Chydyn isn't too keen about making a bunch of rider friends as of yet.

Yeah, I'd figure the candidates would probably be out until after they bond to something. *Then* they have to start learning to be riders and, best way I can see is by bugging the current riders. But! Will work with that when it comes up, since it's still a bit before the hatching.

.. Ahem. ANYWAYS, I have Sa'nia, the uber-happy and outgoing (not to mention clumsy) Eyrie Watch Lieutenant, with her worrywart motherly Tawny, Altaph. Considering her happy outlook, I wouldn't be surprised if you labeled her oblivious! XD But, she's a real sweetheart, and loves to meet new people. But, she's from Chydyn, so there's no chance they met. Maybe.

I also have Xo'li, rider of Blue Shadoph. Xo'li is from Itnala, and is an artist. He doesn't care for gender, and he's (as a state in his biography) a 'can of fun" and 'won't let somebody leave without a smile on their face.' So yeah, he's persistent. His Blue, however, is practically MADE of sarcasm. He does have a soft spot for art of all kinds, though; why else do you think he chose Xo'li?

But yeah, that's all I got. I also agree with Killy; I'm pretty sure nobody'll mind if you join in either of those boards (I mean, look at me - I joined Up, Up! Let's Climb! in the middle of the action. >.>). ;D

Now this sounds fun! I agree that they could make some interesting friends; though K'ean might at first be slightly shocked at Elan's level of cynicism. Likely, though, he'll respect her more for her honesty and opinions once they've gotten somewhat used to one another. He'd probably even seek her out a time or two if he happens to have spare time, for a friendly argument. Generally, K'ean isn't a very social person, but I'd bet that with Elan's personality she'd have no problem convincing him to go drinking or something. But it'll only happen once if she tries to get him drunk. K'ean has absolutely no head for alcohol, and is a slightly ridiculous, obnoxiously cheerful, singing-in-the-street kind of drunk. After he's made a fool of himself, he likely won't want to risk it again, though he'll be reasonably game about it. Occasionally, if he thinks she's getting a bit too complacent, he might even dust of his rarely-used flirting skills to try and unsettle her a bit. ;] But yes, not until she bonds. K'ean and I shall wait with baited breath~ x3

I'll toss up K'huna for this, as out of all of my characters I think they'd be the most likely to get along. Fellow Red-rider and Wingletmaster. He is not a particularly friendly guy either, but he isn't overtly unfriendly unless he thinks you're an idiot or you're doing it wrong. He works hard, doesn't demand conversation, and is pretty hard to truly anger. Irritate maybe, but he usually takes that all in stride. His red is Canph, who is... very demanding, very petty, and very mischevious.

Oh, well, I agree that they'd likely get along pretty well. :] After the hatching, when K'huna finally gets to play at Wingletmaster, I imagine K'ean would be a pretty sympathetic ear if he needs to bitch about anything. xD Also, K'ean does appreciate a fellow who is honest and not afraid to speak out, and he's pretty hard to sting as well. They'd probably even have a deal in common, what with positions of responsibility and troublesome simourvs~ Perhaps drinking buddies now and again? K'ean would extend an invitation every once in a while, even though he's a real lightweight when it comes to alcohol.

Okay, I think we definately need to thread these two! Ripley would be OHSOEXCITED if he found another person who had any medical knowledge at all. He really, really, really loves what he does, and he is always desperate to talk about it with people, just because he likes to discuss doctoring. You may even be able to get him to drop his stony apathy and show excitement about something.

I also think that it might be possible that Leannan and Ripley actually met each other, or at least knew of each other. The way I figure it, there probably are not a lot of surgeons in Pohono, so maybe Leannan's father and Ripley's master were acquainted, at least? Or perhaps they even sometimes worked together, and thus Ripley personally knew Leannan's father? And I mean, if they collaborated in Itnala, then perhaps Ripley even met Leannan?

Just some ideas I'm throwing out there; not married to any of them.

Haha! They can have long, detailed discussions on this treatment versus that treatment and, oh, what did you do to treat that fever that was going around during winter? So on and so forth. x3 Lea would be perfectly eager to chat with someone who knows something of medicine and doctoring; though her own experience is mainly limited to midwifery. On the subject of previous meetings; you're probably right, Lea's father and Ripley's master might indeed have known each other, and if they ever came to Itnala, then likely Lea would have met Ripley as well. Depending on how long ago it was that they came, Leannan would likely have been either apprentice or full midwife. If it was after she became the midwife, I can sort of see Ripley being slightly surprised at her age, heh. She is five years younger than him, but acts like she's older.

I did not see this reply. I do have a thread up in the gardens if you want it for either of them/ general openness or I can try to get one up tomorrow (friday, which is actually today...) or Saturday.

I think Lea's age will impress Ripley, especially if she proves particularly knowledgeable and professional. He will be impressed that she had gained such a position so early and at her competency.

I don't know how long ago he would have traveled to Itnala--we can decide that arbitrarily, I suppose.

And I imagine that midwifery would be a field of medicine which Ripley does not know much about, so he might be really interested in it, but at the same time, he would be totally awkward about talking about such girly things like babies and uteri. Not that he would feel the field beneath him, but rather that he would be really uncomfortable discussing those particular topics with a woman, solely on the basis of--well, common courtesy. I like the thought of him being all sheepish and awkward.
