THE BEASTS

Xymokoxi, often just called koxi, are a nasty species native to Pohono. They're lizard-like in design. Short, squat, and burly, they're covered in a series of small, flexible plates that act as armor, making them extremely resistant to attacks. In truth, one really shouldn't describe a koxi as short. The majority of their species are around the size of a rainbow or small green simourv. Some are slightly smaller or larger, but, considering how heavily muscled they are by designed, all of them are dangerous. Actually, it gets worse. They're not just huge and muscular. They're also insanely fast for a creature of their size, their metabolism and muscular design not at all resembling any Terran animal. They are the perfect killers, more so than any species of animal from Earth. Ridges cover their back and tail. They're generally brass-like in color.

Koxi are fairly simple creatures, when it comes to dealing with them. They are vicious, feral, and merciless. They do, actually, have a low-grade empathy and are perfectly intelligent for what they are, but they're insensitive to their own thoughts. When they see prey, they attack. A strong lust for blood fuels them. They aren't evil but they're still dangerous. They're the sort of thing that gives little children nightmares. They work in packs, forming a loose sort of hierarchy. Loners aren't uncommon, but they favor the strength that numbers gives them, their empathy bonding them together when they act as one. When intent on a kill, they will charge right through gunfire without even the slightest hesitation. While a hungry, interested group of koxi will attack at anytime, loners generally prefer late afternoon and night to make raids and attacks.
