He woke up, quite alone. Rubbing his head, he wondered what had happened.
Oh god.
Did he?
Yes, he did.
He had no words. Only the image of that girl's face. It would haunt him for months. "Rinph. Rinph!" called the rider. "Where are you?" Instantly, the simourv dipped in and Z'ryd could see his body tense.
"I'm sorry, Mine. I just all other simourvs but it wasn't one of my own. They were beasts, bigger than most grays, but I tried to stop, but something kept pushing me. Forgive me for leaving you with the those whose ride these strange creatures." The large black ruffled his feathers before settling down on the ground. Actually, at some time in the night, Z'ryd and Rinph had claimed an empty eyling, probably to the upset of many strangers.
Z'ryd nodded at the simourv's worries, feeling the pain, but he had his own dilemma. He did not know what he did last night. Actually, he could very well guess, but he didn't want. That. With a stranger. Rinph made a gutterual growl as the worry erupted in his rider's mind. He did not like this doubt. Did Rinph have doubt?
Of course. He flew after a monster. That was no simourv. With legs like that, she looked like a feathered dog. She did not have the sleekness he had. For many moments, the two sulked. "So this is what we flew across the ocean for," Z'ryd began.
"Strange people, strange flights, and strange simourvs."
"Are you sure, they're simourv."
"Mutant Simourvs but they are brothers and sisters. Very distant."
"This this is something new. A discovery worth of the the gray queen."
Rinph scoffed. "So now you serve her? What about all those doubts you had last week?"
"Leave me alone. What else am I supposed to do about that situation?"
The black stared at him. Then an idea popped him in his head. He dismissed it and chose another idea. Apologizing and introducing himself the tawny rider and anyone else. After that, something else would and should come to mind.
Though his memory was fuzzy, it was not blank. He followed in the path he took to the girl's room, not wonderful. Rinph followed soon, growling at every movement or thought of a movement. His mind traveled back to the other simourvs. Though they could dream as being as nimble as he, Rinph had smaller horns, much small compared to the towering giant. Sniffing the air, he rose of his hind legs for a moment before following Z'ryd again. After all, he knew what he was. Remaining calm, he called out to the room. "Hello, miss." Hopefully she was there.
"She's close," observed Rinph, looking toward the sky.
Oh god.
