Name: Jervace (Je'ce) Age: 18, Autumn Gender: Male Sexuality: Heterosexual Rank: Candidate Location: Sayaie
Personality: When describing Jervace's personality in one word, the best option would be "energetic." Not in the sense of everywhere-at-once, but in the sense of everything-he-does-with-energy. Every task he is given, he gives it all, sometimes draining his energy if he is not careful. Stubborn, he doesn't quit until he has completed whatever task he set out to do.
Farm life has guided his morals to what he is today. Anyone who protects their own ranks high in his mind, but anyone who protects someone who is not his own ranks higher. All of this exists in his mind, so sometimes he does not follow his own morals. The only place he keeps these ideals firm is on the farm, where he spends most of his life.
When treating women, he tends to act brash, keeping the ideals of his father and step-mother. Teaching from his mother and sister had helped him understand things from a women's viewpoint, but Jervace thinks men are better at fighting and women are better at raising children. Therefore, he blocks all parental thoughts and the idea of taking care of anything that not a farm animal frightens him.
Though Jervace places energy in most of his daily activities, one task he fails to do this is when he thinks. Most of his thoughts are quick and he acts as quickly as he thinks. The young man tries to remember his mistake, but most of the times, they are lost in his bucket of thoughts.
Dramatic change frightens him, but he enjoys little positive changes like a hen bearing eggs. It's the negative changes he does not enjoy, like killing a cow he helped birth because they cannot produce milk. He tries his hardest to keep things constant and like resisting his father's decision to remarry, he reacts negatively. Later, he regrets his anger, but Jervace cannot help to live in the moment.
Koxi are a sore topic for him because of the pain they caused him in the past. For some time, he accepted the fact that he could not fight back since the only weapon he had was a pitchfork, but now he sees an opportunity.
Appearance: Jervace's face is rather average since there are no dramatic features like a large nose or dashing eyes. His brown eyes are usually alert and wide though his body posture never seems nervous. His medium-sized, curved eyebrows make his eyes seem wider and more alert. A thin nose bridge balances his wide eyes. While Jervace's lip his upper lip is thicker than usual. The few children he met mocked him for this. His default expression is a slight grin that gives the impression of mischeavity. Matching the color of his brown eyes in sunlight, Jervace's hair is straight, curling around his curved jaw. The back of it rests on the nape of his neck while his straight cut bangs skim his eyebrows.
His body type is average though he has more strength than at first glance. Most of his strength rests in his upper body. Jervace can sprint, but it is next to impossible to keep his speed constant. The young man isn't too picky when it comes to clothes. He'll wear whatever is comfortable and most of the times he prefers earth colors or yellow.

History: Not all lives are perfect, but in his opinion, Jervace's early life was close enough. He was born as a farmer's son, which was a delight to his father. Inell, five years older than Jervace, had been a wonderful daughter, tackling any task she was given. Sadly, Jervace's father Jomo held the old idea of women in the traditional sense. Any job that a man was expected to perform, Jomo never told Inell to do it.
At three, Jervace started to love the farm. At such a young age, he started to explore by himself, much to the dismay to his parents. They felt terrible by confining him to the house or his mother's arms. When both of his parents were distracted by their chores, Inell would let him out of the house. At first, she watched over him like a protective hawk, and then she became careless, thinking nothing could harm a three year old. Finally, the farm's dog protected the child.
On his fifth birthday, his mother Alecia thought Jervace old enough to help around the house. He did small things, fetching cooking items when dinner time came around or taking leftovers to the dog. But Jervace found his way to the outside, where the ever present dog stayed by his side. On an exploration night, Jervace wanted to visit the horse, so he left the house. The next day, a few chickens were found to be stolen. The dog was punished with a club.
Jervace cried when his father hurt his companion, but his dad tried to explain if the foxes were bad people, would he want the dog to protect them? Jervace understood that animals needed to protect other animals. Why couldn't people protect others from other people?
Then Jervace entered the age of full time work. He tilled the field with the help of the Clydesdale horse. He fed the hogs and killed. He milked the cows and helped more cows breath to life. For many years, he never wished for a different life. There was time when he wished for a more glamorous life, but when he heard one of young dogs bark in the night and defended the precious chickens. He wanted to protect these animals for as long as he could.
Before falling in love and marrying a farmer, Alecia, his mother, worked as a teacher, so she refused to let Jervace or Inell grow up stupid. Every day, she spent one hour teaching her children a subject the city children would learn. Jervace loved the science while Inell loved the history.
Living on a farm away from the cities, he rarely dealt with the koxi, but he lived in fear of them when he went to trade in the city. Most of the time he went with his mother. His first time entering Sayaie, there was a loner koxi attack. Thankfully, no one was killed, due to its young age. Naive back then, Jervace thought the koxi could not harm the city because he never saw the koxi attack aside from that one encounter.
At twelve, his mother and he traveled to the city like any month, but this was another koxi attack. They hid, grabbing any weapon they could, as Jervace had drilled many times with his family. This koxi was older and smarter than the one two years before. After Jervace skinned his knee hiding, the koxi found the two of them and clawed Alecia from her hiding spot. Later, the koxi was found, with Jervace's clothes in its teeth.
The loss of the matriarch affected the entire family. No one was more hurt than the other, but feelings shifted around the family. His father blamed Jervace. Inell felt guilty about not wanting to with mother. Eventually, the family recovered from their tense feelings. They had to a farm to run. Inell took over the more feminine duties her mother once performed like cooking and cleaning while Jervace took over his late mother's physical tasks.
A year after the death, Jomo brought a woman to the farm. This shocked the siblings. They were aware that their father left or Sayaie every week, but the two assumed it was to find a hand to help. Jervace was thirteen, strong as could be, but Inell was turning eighteen. Most likely, she would leave the farm within a year. There was still the chance she would marry, but it was unlikely that her husband would accept the farmer's life and if he already had, Inell would move there.
The announcement that the two were to be married surprised the two of them, but they accepted her into the family. Both of them knew the reason for the marriage. They needed more hands. Halka, the fiance, had a son. He was younger than Jervace but still strong. The entire ceremony went without incident. When the two families joined, Jervace and Inell had a hard time adjusting to Damion, their step-brother. There was, thankfully, no clashing differences, but Damion resisted work. It wasn't until later Jervace and Inell discovered he was spoiled by his father who died.
It took two years for Damion to pull his share of the work, and he wasn't happy when he had to do more when Inell got married and left the farm. When he saw the small miracle a farm offered, Damion grew to love the farm more than Jervace ever could. On his seventeen birthday, Jomo officially handed down the farm to him when he could no longer work. Jervace was excited, but then he noticed his step-brother's reaction. More than anything, Damion wanted to own the farm and to work with the animals for the rest of his life. But when the searchriders came, Jervace had to choose.
He chose to become a rider, but for him, candidacy was difficult. Though he understood most of the lessons, he felt distant from the other candidates. At first, he assumed it was his background but his room mate came from the same background and he seemed to adjust. When Eceph clutched, Jervace became nervous, especially when the eggs started to hatch. He planned to run away, but at the last few moments, he went back to the Nesting Sounds where a hungry Nasyeph found him. Je'ce felt a connection with the small blue. It didn't brush away his doubts, but it did make them seem more bearable with the blue companion.
Desired Color: Red or Black Undesired Color: Green Reasoning: The red fits Jervace the most in personality wise while he does not think he would get along with a green. Injury/Mauling: Anything goes. Just no broken bones or traumatic injuries
