A man, probably in his mid-thirties, led a small teenage girl into a studio, much like one on a talk show. He was clad in a black suit and white tie, which contrasted greatly with the girl. She looked like she had been plucked off the street: she wore a gray hoodie, faded jeans that suspiciously looked like hand-me-downs, and worn-out sneakers.
The two sat down in plush red chairs as a director cried, "We'll be on in five!" The man leaned over to whisper in the girl's ear, "Don't worry about the cameras; act as if they don't exist." The girl only gave a small smile and a nodbefore an anonymous voice called, "And we are live in five, four, three, two...!"
"Welcome back! Today we have Alyssa, from a small town in Oregon. She claims to have amazing powers! Do tell us about them," the girl's companion greeted the audience as the applause died down.
"I can sense people's emotions," Alyssa replied simply. "A lot of people can do it. Wanna see?" With many an 'ooh' and 'aahhh,' she pulled out a simple case and procured a violin and bow. After rosining the bow, Alyssa took a few preparation moments and pulled the bow across the strings.
The piece lasted for a few minutes, a heart-wrenching ballad that lightened to a delicate ending in the last measures. The entire audience stood for an ovation, in which Alyssa responded with a small bow. Finally, when the last person sat down, she began to speak. "First you were intrigued, then excited. After that you became angered before falling into sadness, longing, and guilt. Then you realized that things would get better as you grew happier. The joy is what is left," the violinist explained. "You're probably confused or awestruck now, though," she added jokingly.
A murmur of said confusion and awe swept over the audience and cast alike. The host finally spoke up. "That was amazing! How did you do that?" he exclaimed. "All you did was play on that violin! Is it magic? The whole world wants to know!"
Alyssa looked at the man, smiled, and stood up. "It's rather simple, really," she replied indifferently. She gathered her things before she continued.
"I'm a musician." With that, she walked out of the studio.

A band essay (weird, right?), since the director was out and the substitutes knew NOTHING about music. So, I give you it. Enjoy~.
