Not sure if you guys have already seen or know this info, but it was an eye-opener for me. Particularly the bit on how "Plumage color also regulates how fast a birds warms up or cools down, and the colors of feathers can have a large effect on how fast feathers wear out." Just sharing here for fun in any case It'll be interesting to work out how this applies to our simourv friends. I wish the article explained the specifics of the coloration effects. But I will be searching for the author and some articles on Monday, when I get back to school and have access to my library database.

Hmm, true, it doesn't. I was thrilled just knowing about the reasons behind colors, but to know more of these specifics would be good too I'll check out my area to see if I can find that book too.

I did actually know a lot of that. However, simourvs are not exactly the same as birds, so those effects would most likely not even work the same with them. I know we had a talk about their blood, while having the same base, does not use the same construction or cardiovascular system as birds/most things on Earth.

Ok Yeah, it was beginning to occur to me that Pohono being a totally different planet would mean its physics, animals and everything else could differ quite substantially from Earth. It was just an interesting thought on how simourv might be similar to birds seeing as the inspiration for their colors are terran birds. On a related note...I may have missed this somewhere, but does anyone know what color is simourv's blood? Is it red too?

It's red, but darker than ours.
