Name: Ca'den (Caiden) Age: Twenty-three (Winter) Gender: Male Sexuality: Heterosexual Rank: Winglet Location: Eyrie
Personality: Ca'den is a man of diligence, responsibility and seriousness. He is an extremely hard worker, finding satisfying accomplishment in constantly putting himself to use. His workaholic ways are sometimes his downfall. He has difficulty refusing any plead for help, generally working up so many favors on his plate that he gets bogged down. Disliking to leave something unfinished, it's not uncommon to find Ca'den skipping over meals and sleep until the tasks on his long to-do list are finished. Even if taking breaks would greatly benefit his health, he doesn't like doing nothing. Eventually, he always finds time to catch up on sleep, though.
He is, in a way, the perfect worker. He respects authority no matter what age or gender, but thinks less of people who don't share his work ethic. He prefers to follow instead of lead, appreciating the position of a member of a productive group. He's quick to commit instructions to memory. A day when Ca'den misses something in an order is a day when he apologizes sincerely and rights it immediately. There is little room for error in his mind.
When Ca'den does have a spare moment when he's not working or helping someone, he spends it alone with Caaracrinaph. It's not that he wishes for solitude. In fact, he often wishes for the opposite, but his hardworking, single-tracked mindset leaves him little time for socializing and littler in the way of friends. With his only real hobby being working anyways, usually these spare moments are cut short when he finds something else he can help out with. He does, however, enjoy talking at great lengths with Caaracrinaph, about people and simourvs and work. He questions Caaracrinaph's manipulative nature sometimes, but doesn't do much about it. He loves Caaracrinaph anyways, the blue being his soulmate and all.
Really, all Ca'den does is work, because that's what makes him happy. What makes him even happier is helping others, especially family. His loyalty is incredible, and is really the stem of his entire being, work ethic included.
Appearance: Ca'den is best described as 'average.' At 5'9", he's neither tall nor short, and his build is in the middle between thin and muscular. He does have a fair bit of strength to him, thanks to years of working on the farm, but it's wiry and concealed. By no means does Ca'den look strong. He just looks like most other young men his age. Healthy, and average.
His face is not anything special, either. With a strong chin, high brow, nondescript nose and evenly-spaced eyes, he's easy to look at but not easy to remember. The most distinctive thing about him is his shock of vibrant red hair, which is generally somewhere between short-cropped and ragamuffin shaggy. He likes to keep it short and out of the way, but it grows out in between the last haircut and whenever he has the mind to give himself the next one. His eyes are a murky gray-green-blue, generally in a concentrated grimace. His smile is undeniably the most memorable thing about him, if you manage to catch it. It lights up his entire face and self when it's sincere. It's most striking because of how rare it is to see Ca'den smile. Usually, he's just busy looking concentrated.

Simourv Name: Caaracrinaph Simourv Color: Blue [6c6e93] Simourv Age: One (Summer)
Personality: Caaracrinaph is aloof. He travels his own, patient path in life, maintaining that good things will come in time and nothing good comes of rushing. His patience is nigh neverending, but he does have a set limit of how much he can take. Some things bore him, and he won't stand for being bored. He's all about gathering useful, interesting information, and being bored doesn't exactly help that.
The blue is an observer through and through. Born from the Lordly Core of Eceph's first clutch, he acts as such - not so much above everyone else, for he has no desire to be great and famous, but apart from them. He watches people and the world, learns about them, ponders them, all while keeping largely to himself. He is comfortable on his own or just with his rider, but also takes pleasure in casual chit-chat. He has the tendency to be a bit of a gossip, passing on information he finds particularly intriguing, and gaining information back from conversation partners. He is like a lord, living in his own castle, away from the rest, but still mingling with them on occasion, to be polite and sociable.
He likes to use what he knows about others to his advantage. He has no problems with manipulating others for his and Ca'den's own gain, taking pride in knowing just how certain people will react to certain things, and how to get them to do what he desires without forcing them. He is very careful about what he says and does because of this, thinking things through before acting.
Caaracrinaph's caution extends beyond this, as well. He puts special attention to making sure he's out of harm's way at all times, and is not partial to physical contact. The only person who can touch him without getting a sour response is Ca'den, and even then, Caaracrinaph keeps the contact to a minimum. It's simply a personal preference - he doesn't like to be touched. He still loves Ca'den deeply, even if he doesn't show it through physical contact, and even if the relationship sometimes does come off as nothing more than a business partnership.
Appearance: Caaracrinaph is on the smaller end of the blue size spectrum, measuring in at a decent but nothing impressive 47.6 feet. As such, he is built finely compared to his larger counterparts, but he does have some stockiness to him to prove his masculinity. He carries himself in a way that is refined, but not so much as to be called ladylike. He's well-kept, but even if he does have pride in himself, he doesn't ever feel the need to be flashy about it. He prefers to blend into crowds instead of standing out.
His colouration definitely helps with that. He is far from bright and showy, being a soft, dusky denim blue for the most part. His feathers are mottled and devoid of any intricate patterns. The only break in his grey-blue colour is a collar of white extending from his cheeks to his chest, and a subtle black mascara around his eyes, barely noticeable from afar. His horns and claws are a simple dark brown, and his beak and legs are a light gold. In truth, there's nothing terribly striking about how Caaracrinaph looks, but he likes it that way.
Parentage: Gray Eceph x Black Alianph
History: The first leg of Caiden's childhood was a normal one. Despite being an unplanned child, born only nine months after his young parents' wedding ceremony, he was loved and well-cared for. Caesile and Hielo had initially planned to hold off on getting pregnant until they were sure they could provide for a child, but fate had other plans. Caiden was a good child, and he progressed cognitively as was normal. He learned to crawl on time, walk on time, and talk on time, and by his sixth year he was learning how to help around the house and farm without getting distracted or being counterproductive. Really, his childhood was a normal one, up until the birth of his sister, Lydel.
Caiden was eight at the time. Caesile's pregnancy had, for the most part, been normal. The nine months she carried Lydel were the same as they had been for Caiden. Inconvenient morning sickness for the first trimester, and regular symptoms throughout the rest. As the child's due date neared, Caesile spent more and more time in bed, her back sore and feet swelling from all the weight. The labour, however, was the part that turned everything upside-down. Long and full of complication, Caesile barely survived it. In the end, though, both she and her newborn daughter were alive, if barely on her part.
Caesile had been a delicate woman to start. The difficult birth took a huge toll on her frail body, and from then on she was under careful watch from the family doctor. She was to stay at home, avoid strenuous activities, and generally take it easy and eat healthily. With his mother rendered generally useless aside from caring for little Lydel, Caiden had to take over most of the tasks around the house, and somehow balance it with helping his father. Even Lydel became largely his concern, and he carried her around whenever he could to let his mother rest.
By ten years old he was practically the master of the house, adept at cooking, cleaning and babysitting. While most boys his age would have rebelled under such responsibility, Caiden flourished under it. His intense work ethic was born of this responsibility, and perhaps he matured faster than he should have, but he liked it. Helping his family out whenever he could made him feel accomplished. He didn't focus on toys and games like his peers did. He focused on the more serious things in life. As such, most of his following years were spent helping around the house or out in the fields, and when he wasn't doing that, he was working hard in school. He didn't have many friends, but that suited him fine. He had his family. That was enough for him.
On his eighteenth birthday, he received quite the surprise from Lydel. In order to get him to "lighten up," as she explained before presenting the gift, she'd gotten him a small puppy, which was nothing but a ball of white fur at the time. Unfortunately, the dog had rather an opposite effect. Instead of cheering Caiden, it simply irritated him. It was too small to train to be an effective guard dog, and too young and energetic to train to do anything at all. It was simply a hyper lap dog, more accurately classified as a 'nuisance.' However, it was a gift from his beloved sister, and he wouldn't abandon it. Instead, he tried his best to train it, but refused to name it even with Lydel's constant nagging.
Two years later, tragedy would befall his family. They were all incredibly close, working as a unit, confiding in each other and loving each other. Each winter, when the fields were covered in snow, this family unit strove to keep frail Caesile from falling ill. Firewood was routinely cut and burned to keep the house heated; new blankets were knitted; warmer clothes were sewn; good food was made from the limited ingredients they had. However, with all their focus on Caesile, no one expected that it would be Lydel to take ill that winter. Lydel was never ill, but by the time winter was halfway through, she was struggling just to get a proper breath. The coughing fits she had kept everyone awake and, despite the doctor's efforts, she was gone before spring could come.
Everyone grieved. Caiden found little comfort in his parents, whose grief only helped to magnify his. He had loved his sister. To have her gone left a gaping hole in his heart, which he filled by working harder. In the first while after Lydel's death, the biggest source of comfort, surprisingly, was the dog she had given him. The white creature, full-grown by now but still small, seemed to know what was going on and hated to see her master in the bad way he was. He grew attached to her and, in memoriam, named her Lydel after his sister. Still, though, he usually just called her "that dog" as was habit.
In the years that followed, he spent more time helping his father on the farm, having had a kind young woman come to help keep the house clean and care for Caesile, who seemed so much older than she should have. Life went on as it should have. Caiden worked, and slowly accepted Lydel's absence. Things happened for a reason, and he couldn't change it. He missed her still, but he remembered her fondly. Lydel II, who was still fairly useless, helped with that. His sister had always been a clever girl. Who else would have thought to get him a dog to help him "lighten up"? He promised to always remember her kindly, instead of remembering the grief he'd felt when she'd gone.
When he was twenty-two, the next big step in his life happened. On the way to Sayaie from the family home out in the country, he was nearly knocked down by a great red simourv. After that, red Canph Searched him, and Caiden was baffled to find that meant he was to go to the Eyrie and try his luck at getting a simourv of his own. Being the orderly, logical person he was, though, he refused to up and leave right away, and instead made sure everything would be fine at home when he left. His parents were happy for him, and his father promised that he had enough farmhands to keep the farm running. Assured that his mother and father would be fine without him, and that they would take care of Lydel II for him, he left for the Eyrie.
Not soon after his arrival, the great gray Eceph's clutch hatched. Caiden did indeed bond to a simourv. Hello, Ca'den. What have you learned of our compatriots? Your Caaracrinaph learned much, the blue chick had said. Perhaps we can use it all to our advantage. If we're smart about what we say, and how we act, I think we will do quite well as partners, don't you?
And they were. Ca'den and Caaracrinaph were perfect for each other, and they went far in their winglet lessons. Ca'den, with his hard-working attitude, and Caaracrinaph, with his subtle, manipulative ways, made for a very successful team. Ca'den wrote often to his family on Caaracrinaph's growth and progress, whenever he had a spare moment from working which, with Ca'den's tendencies, was fairly rare.
