Name: Shaegir (Sh'gir)
Age: 14, winter
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual
Rank: Candidate
Location: Eyrie
Personality:
Shaegir is a very idealistic girl. She has grandiose ideas of what the world should be like, and what people should be like. She has ideas about everything, and the natural order of things. Similarly, she can also be very romantic about ideas like love, honor, and friendship. She is very energetic at first in the pursuit of something she finds interesting, or what she believes to be the right cause of action. However, as she has witnessed time and time again, but failed to ultimately realize, nothing is as it should be. These high notions and expectations of the things around her fall short, and in the end she loses interest and moves onto something or someone else. She's too lazy, or maybe just unwilling to commit to making the ideas and concepts she speaks so highly of a reality. As such, she often begins thing, and never ends them, instead forgetting them and moving on.
This doesn't keep her from judging people she meets by ridiculously high standards. Though her main target for this are men. Though she is rather enchanted by the idea of what a lady should be, she inherited from her mother a slightly disenchanted and unrealistic view of men. She believes that men should be courageous and gallant gentlemen, who do things like lay their coats over puddles in her way, and kiss her hand when they meet her. Unfortunately for her, most men, and especially boys her age do not do this, leading her to believe they are uncultured, and ill-mannered. While those who fit her image of what a man should be are treated quite civilly.
She is, in truth, a bit dull. Not just in terms of how interesting she is, but also mentally. She is not particularly bright, and while she is far from stupid, she is content not to know the mysteries of the world. Though she is friendly enough, and easy to get along with, she can be quite inane. Conversations with her tend not to be particularly deep, and its not uncommon for her to display her own ignorance. Though when confronted on the manner, she is often apologetic and interested in the truth, at least at first. She is very obedient and soft spoken, willing to allow someone else to run her life and make all the tough decisions. In her life at this point and time, this person is her sister, Serapais, whom she indulges often without question or much complaint.
That is not to say that Shaegir is entirely a powderpuff. Hidden somewhere underneath those soft smiles, and quiet giggles is a spitfire. She is not fond of starting trouble, or breaking the rules. At least now anyway, perhaps she was once a trouble marker, and enjoyed things like wrestling, fishing, and, occasionally, swearing. Now she has 'matured', and left behavior like that to her sister, who seems much more adept at it. However, if truly irritated by someone, she might still in her frustration blacken their eye, or call them a name. She would regret it immediately after, and most likely profusely apologize.
While she does not particularly approve of her sister acting like such a, well, such a boy, she does not fault or judge her for it. Or any other woman for that matter, for acting however they wish. Her decision to act as a lady is just that, hers alone. As easily a code of honor as those held by heroes in story books. All the same, she deeply cares for her twin sister, and is quite loyal to her. She is a loyal friend as well, and enjoys being social. She does not seem to realize that her sister tends to drive people away from them. Of the two, she really is the more tolerable.
Like her sister, she has a fondness for animals, though she is no where near as good with them. She has somewhat tacky taste, and a habit of collecting things. If it weren't for her sister, she probably would fritter away her money on trinkets, or give some to every beggar who asked on the street. For instance, she loves copper jewelry, and has quite the collection, ranging from tasteful to gaudy. She also is quite fond of reading, though she prefers fiction, often with romance in it.
Appearance:
Standing at 4'10", the same diminutive height as her sister, Shaegir is not very intimidating. She is thin, trim, and in good shape if lacking muscle. She has very proper posture, and always stands tall, and sits with her ankles neatly crossed. She looks very well cared for, and is often a bit more orderly than her twin. Her skin is similarly pale, and her eyes that same dark blue. The girls ash blond hair is a bit lighter in color than Serapais', and is a few inches longer, reaching very nearly down to her mid back. She quite often looks distracted in some way, or as if she were slightly tired.
In contrast to her sister, Serapais has a much less demanding presence. She speaks softly and slowly, and has a habit of drawing out the sounds of words when trying to put an emphasis on them. She sounds much more relaxed and at ease than her twin, and to be honest looks friendlier. She prefers a more feminine style of clothing, though she does not dress outrageously. She enjoys simple dresses, tunics, and shawls befitting a well to do girl her age. Her only eccentricity is the copper jewelry she adores, which she tends to wear too much of, which jangles when she walks. Shaegir finds the sound pretty, though to others it may just be annoying.
Family:
Avery (Father, Deceased)
Naisha (Mother, Deceased)
Pets:
None.
History:
Avery and Naisha were lucky people in many ways. For one, they were a reasonably wealthy merchant family based out of the seaside city of Itnala. Secondly, in year 44 of human settlement in Spiderland, the elderly couple were blessed with two unexpected twin girls, Serapais and Shaegir. If they were unwise to shower the girls with all the love and attention they could give, it was done purely out of the best intentions. Avery was a loving father, indulgent and eager to please. Naisha was a similarly loving parent, if slightly cynical and very traditional. She raised the girls as her mother had raised her, to be proper ladies.
Like her sister, Shaegir was a tomboy at first. She idolized her sister, and perhaps unconsciously came to enjoy all the same things that she did. The lessons on etiquette did not bother her at first, but unlike her sister she did not come to hate them. As she grew, she grew more into her own person, at least in some ways. She found that she enjoyed the ideas her mother fed her, and found less and less in common with her twin. Of course, she was still as thick as thieves with Serapais, but that didn't mean she had to be like her. Though she tended to follow the rules while her sister broke them, she could not bring herself to be especially happy over the conflict between her sister and her parents.
Things changed for the twins a year ago, when bad fortune touched their family for the first time. On what was supposed to be a tentative trade route from Itnala to a port near Sayaie, their father went missing. Either lost to the wild ocean or prey to a Koxi on land, no one was quite sure. The fact was that he was gone. Deeply grieved by the loss of her husband, and stressed near the breaking point by deteriorating relations with her two children, Naisha struggled to gain control of recent events. It became too much for her, and she grew ill. Realizing what was already a bad situation for her family might become worse, she arranged for a trusted friend of the family to care for her. If things should turn from bad to worse, Shaegir and Serapais were to be well taken care of, and prepared for the difficulties of life that faced them.
Things, as they often do, did go from bad to worse. Their mother passed, and Shaegir, who had rarely known bad times, was left behind with her sister. The twins stunned, grieving, and conflicted, found comfort in each other and little else. The money that paid for their luxury didn't seem to matter anymore, and the comfortable home they knew all their lives seemed cold and foreign. As the months passed, the sisters found a way to cope. For Shaegir, it was a retreat from reality into books, and into the world her mother had wanted for her. She found she couldn't focus so much on the frightening realm of adulthood in front of her if she buried herself in words. She grew quiet, less assertive, and more susceptible to her sister's bad ideas.
That bad idea was that the two of them would steal off in the early morning toward the docks, and either sneak or buy their way onto a ship bound for Saiyaie. They'd take only what they needed with them, and find some way to make a living. It was a scary idea, but Shaegir really did not feel like their home was... home anymore. She missed her parents terribly, and she held some unspoken fear that if she did not go, her sister would leave without her. So, she agreed. But their plan never got as far as Sayaie, as they found themselves unable to be taken seriously by the local sailors, and denied passage. Before guards could be called on them, fate intervened again in the form of a green simourv named Valenph, and her curious rider M'ari.
The life that the green-rider offered them sounded strange, and going so far away seemed scary. But she had read stories about the mysterious and heroic simourv in her books, and saw for once in her life, one ideal that was true. They both agreed that a life at the far off Eyrie sounded more welcoming than the house they had left, empty and filled with painful memories. Perhaps that was just another bad and reckless decision made by two confused little girls. They accepted, though M'ari insisted they get permission from their guardian. Said guardian was baffled and unsure at first of what to make of the rider and his offer, but quite happily changed his tune when the twins quite willingly gave the estate to him. They wouldn't need it where they were going. They were off to the eyrie, with their hopeful eyes turned toward the future.
Desired Color: Tawny, Blue, Green
Undesired Color: None.
Reasoning: I could see Shaegir working well with a tawny, as they both have similar personalities. She might also do well with a prissy green. For the blue... I'm imagining her with a gentlemanly blue, and its just adorable.
Injury/Mauling: Maul away.
